LX cosmetic bumper repair?

gents,
my front bumper has a ton of paint chips missing. not sure if it is from a massive haul on a gravel road or why it is so "cosmetically challenged".
but does this look like the right spray can paint code for this repair? "1A6 - Gray Metallic".
also, am i pulling the bumper off, sanding it down manually or with a grinder with some flap wheel attachment somehow - and then basically spray can painting it? is there some utility to my prepping it myself and trying to run it by a local body repair show with a paint booth? if so is there a paint code?

no.... 1a6 is moonglow pearl and different than the bumper color. The bumpers are darker and less metalic.

also the prep comment seems to be a question sort of? dont know how you are going to do it but that is one way. Depending on you budget and desire for perfection then yes there is absolute utility in taking it to a professional. Grinder will leave swirl marks that will likely need a high build primer first to fill then color to cover. Id swing by a local quality shop and ask them how theyd do it and how you can help if trying to save some cost. Id imagine a sand blast, prime, and paint would provide an ideal solution.

yeah. sorry. not very direct.
i’m wondering if the spray paint brand and type sounds like it will work for the 97 LX, if the paint code is correct (someone recently said there was a newer toyota supplemental on the code for the 97 vehicles) and how i would best prep the bumper if i wanted to DIY.

thanks a lot. i’m obviously not a genius with this but is that the “UCA31 (96-97) Dark Gray Metallic paired with: 202, 6M1” for the bumpers? meaning UCA31 is the grey bumper paint?

The power sanding tool of choice would be a DA sander, or hand sand. Repair strategies include; sanding each chip out or filling them, high build primer or spot filler.

My research says UCA31 is the bumper/trim paint color, but I've never actually bought any.

thanks a lot for the help. what’s “DA sander” exactly? you are making me realize i could probably put the orbital sander to work and hand finish the rest. appreciate the link. i will do some more research.
