I have read it somewhere, that the LX470 has problems with suspension system. Before I spend my hard earn $3K on extend warranty, would this cover the connom problems, this is the list that cover Front and Rear Suspension:

Upper and Lower Control Arms; Control Arm Shafts and Bearings or Bushings; Upper and Lower Ball Joints; Radius Arm and Bushings; Torsion Bars, Mounts and Bushings; Stabilizer Bar, Links and Bushings; Struts; Strut Bearing Plates; Spindle and Spindle Support; Wheel Bearings; Pannard Bar; Track Bar; Suspension Bumpers; Leaf Springs; Leaf Spring Shackels and Hardware; Load Assist Shocks; Shocks; Load Assist Springs; Coil Springs; and Seals and Gaskets

Any though!:)

what year lx are you planing on purchasing? and how long aka years, and or milage does the extend warranty cover?

Well, the suspension on the LX is pretty durable. I agree with the above post. We need to know what year and mileage. Personally I wouldn't get it just becuase the few reports on the LX's suspension that have had problems are parts that are not on your list of covered parts! Of course there are also quite a few parts in the generic verbage that aren't even on a LX that are "covered" :D

The "accumulators" and one other part that hoser may be able to comment on are about all I have heard of failing and they are extremely isolated reports at this point in time.

Well, it is a year 2000 wtih 58k on it. The warranty covers 3Y/36K. :) If I call up a Lexus dealer, would they give me any service records?

Any though!

i've been quoted $2150 for a lexus factory warranty 7/100 bumper to bumper. it's still under original warranty and the list price is $2700-$2800.

i would not spend $3K on an aftermarket product. no way no how.

Pass on that extended for that price. Our 99LX was certified and I have run it up to 88k and no problems with suspension. We tow, we go off on Jeep roads, we go in the mountains. This is not a urban suv.

so that will give u to either 2009 or 94,000 miles which ever comes first.......

I have come out ahead on extended warranties on a Ford Mustang in 1979. I have had several on Toyotas and never came out ahead. I have a certified Lexus LX but doubt I will need to use the warranty before I use up 53K within 3 years (likely within 2 years with my driving history).

When I bought my 98LC they offerd me the Toyota extended warranty for about $2800 IIRC, it had 49K on the clock and it would've covered for 5 yrs or 100K.
To make a long story short, I passed on it. These trucks are very reliable, thats why we buy them, so what's the point in paying up-front almost $3K for repairs that are very unlikely. If you're worried, put that $3K on a CD and use it for repairs if needed.

Yeah, chances are, the only things that will go wrong are cracks in the exhaust manifolds, starter contacts, and maybe TPS or pump for the master cylinder. Figure in a worst case scenario, two of these things will occur by 100K miles. How much will it cost to fix them? Now if it's a LX and the accumulators fail, it might be worth the warranty.
