New HALO headlights..... please review

OK.. like the photos... just a couple of questions because I'm about to do this myself...

Are these an Anzo product.... they seem to be the only manufacturer I can find online?

Did you purchase them through Ebay or a local distributor?

Was the installation "plug and play" or did you need to splice in wires?

Do the HALO lights work with the daytime driving lights?

Did you purchase the HID set which requires ballast transformers?

Are you still happy with your purchase 5 months later?

I'm considering something like this which looks pretty much like your photos...

HIGH+LOW HID 98-07 LEXUS LX470 HALO PROJECTOR HEADLIGHT : eBay Motors (item 170439856901 end time Mar-02-10 00:32:04 PST)

Thanks,

Rob

to me, all the connections look plug and play from what I recognize in this picture

Mine are the Eagle Eyes brand.

I found them on Ebay.

Installation was simple. However, be very careful with pulling the thin trim piece around the lights. I only had to splice the lead wire for the halo part to the parking lamp light wire.

Do the HALO lights work with the daytime driving lights?

I have mine wired to the parking lamps and they stay on with the full light. They look exceptionally good when just running the parking lamps during the day. The DRL are still on during this time. I need to take some pics and post.

Did you purchase the HID set which requires ballast transformers?

I did not purchase the HID set. Instead I bought some high quality lamps from Daniel Stern Lighting. The Eagle Eyes use the H1 in the brights and H7 in the Headlamps. These look like HID without the ballast and are not one that will burn you wires.

Are you still happy with your purchase 5 months later?

Yes. Love them. It really updated the look and I have a 2004. the ligts and grille will really update your truck.

I'm considering something like this which looks pretty much like your photos...

Thanks,

Rob

Thank you for the quick reply... I think I'm gonna move forward on this.... except... I live in NY and it warmed way up to 10 degrees with the wind chill today.... this sounds like a job for April... I will post some photos also.... Mine's a 1999 in River Rock Grey.... I'm gonna attempt to strip the paint from the grill too.....

pfft, i was out adjusting my driving lights the other night with the blowing cold whipping across my face. Get out there and do it! Better to upgrade your headlights in the winter, the nights are longer.

1LoudLX and I differ on opinion on this, but a new grille is like $230...from a place in CA. It is just not the paint, but he design is different. I think it is worth the cost, and that is a very quick upgrade....like 4 bolts.

Do you have a lead on the grill... mine's pretty beat up from driving behind sand spreaders on the New York State Thruway..... That's how I managed have my headlight "compromised"....

I read somewhere that the later model grills are slightly different in size.... keep in mind I have a 99.... and it's looking linda dated.... I just put too much into maintanence... and the truck runs AWESOME.... ("knock wood") to even think of tradingf in for a newer LX.....

paint protection film, it works wonders.

Probably read the size difference from one of my posts. 03-05 have same size grille as the last refresh: the 06-07 models, on 98-02 you'll have to replace the three small trim pieces and maybe then some on the front end. Aedgington did the swap, not sure if he posted it on ih8mud or club lex.

If you've got smokey topaz, I've got a fresh paint-matched grille(as in no chips) I wont be using since I've got a rhino-lined grille now.

New Grill and lights look good to me. Not everyone is building their rig for off-pavement travel. I understand that. Good work. I like chrome, if it's factory. No front plate required?

looks good- I may do this to my 2005 cruiser.

yes, they're one piece, headlight and parking light are separate on the older ones.

I have a land cruiser, not an LX. The entire headlight assembly looks to be one piece? Shouldn't the '05 model light upgrades fit?

Or do i have to upgrade just the bulbs?
