Hi folks!

First off, I have to make a confession. I don't actually own an 80 series (yet...) - I'm a 100 series guy that makes & sells all sorts of 3D printed accessories for the 100 series platform. It's a blast, and I love meeting people at events that are using my stuff.

However! I did have one of my designs recently validated on an 80 series & wanted to share it here too. It's a rear hatch latch extension - this was a result from a request from a customer. He has a camera mounted to his license plate frame, and his kids kept destroying the camera looking for the tailgate hatch release. The 100 & 80 actually use the exact same black plastic handle on the latch mechanism, so while the photos below are from my 100 series, it fits the 80s perfectly too (verified by me shipping one to an 80 series owner for test fits!)

I initially thought this was a pretty niche application, but after testing it through five design iterations, it turns out it's actually quite nice! It definitely lets you open the hatch easier by giving you more leverage both against the latch release, and the hatch struts. Same with closing it - the extra leverage makes a surprising difference. I've sold a handful of these to folks & everyone really likes it.

It's designed in such a way that when you're opening it, the load is transferred to the frame of the hatch. Same with when you close it - the wedge shape on the backside means you're not putting weird torque into the handle, rather most of the force is transferred into the frame of the hatch.

As usual for me, these are printed in glass-fiber reinforced ASA & will be provided with stainless hardware (not shown in the final test fits above). $40 shipped to your door here in the US! Message me to order.

I'm not sure how often I'll be releasing new products for the 80 series (since I don't have one sitting in my driveway to test fit parts on), but when I do I'll be sure to share them here!
