Hello CruiserDan,
A modern airliner's cockpit...hhmmph, big deal. Show me a cockpit from a Vought F4U Corsair, or a P-47, and you're talking the bee's knees. I'll settle for anything piston-prop from WW2.

I'm very familiar with "old school" ...... My dad once owned one of these. However it's not something I would want to spend 10 hours in each week crossing the Atlantic. In 42+ years of flying I've experienced both "old school" and "new school".
(Sorry for the hijack Ward)

PV-2 Harpoon
It had been converted to drop Mirex (a granulated fire ant poison) but after the EPA banned the product because it killed Mocking Birds and small children the company was forced to eventually file bankruptcy. My dad was able to purchase the airplane and after a brief period sold it to a Warbird museum. The aircraft was a hoot with those huge radial engines. The South now has a 100 trillion fire ants that cause unmeasurable damage but at least our mocking birds are healthy.

Well, I picked it up at the shop, just in time for Christmas. :)

Twenty miles on it in sloppy, dark skies Seattle traffic. Tractable, smooth and very comfortable.

After the first drive Tor asked what I thought. I told him that it was amazingly "normal" - until the revs hit 2,000 and then you kinda have to hold on.

Nice truck.

Torfab nailed it.....again.

When I go above 2,000 RPM in my 2H things start to happen also but unfortunately I can't hear them. :)

Drove it home and no photos?! You should know better than that :)

Wife's :princess: extended family arriving late tonight so I am on double lockdown...:santa:

More to follow, not to worry :steer:

back to tech for a sec, how do you like the dynamat in the front cab, how far back did you go? Im torn between keeping it toyota genuine or upgrading........

Love that s***e. Rig is Dynamatted from firewall to rear doors including two layers in doors, fender panels, new side panels, plus there will be a layer between FRP and new headliner. Also a layer between bonnet and new OEM insulator pad.

Like driving a bank vault :)
