From what I've read on the Porsche forums on these Lseat installs: the key to a good fit is using steam to smooth the wrinkles out- something a pro installer would have.

Big, Big chances is not the same company..

But is a Leather factory (commercial enterprise) in Colombia trying to make waves around sur america with customized leather seats and covers and now with "El Tratado de libre comercio" will be a non issue to send items to the US without much customs delay..

The Leather craftsman downwhere used to be second to none for decades but that stop in the early 2000 when most of the factories close (not price competitive unless it was really high end) i assume (and I still have friends that make high end outdoor rock climbing/mountaineering products) but now is really hard to find skilful craftsman (The traditions dyed)..

Just make sure you have a firm ETA and they have a warranty center in the US if not your claims are going to take forever..

PS: "Makila" is very common form of production down there and they just find shops that will do the work per unit, but the quality is usually spotty and the contracts kind of unreliable..

Again this is just a suppositions, but all the factors and clues add up..

I am a (very) hands-on type, so glad I did it myself and pleased with how my install turned out. It's not a 1 or 2 banana job by any means, but totally doable if you're used to abusing your hands... Disassembly and install is tough on the hands - many sharp sheet metal edges around the seat structural cage. Wearing mechanics gloves may solve this, but I did it bare handed, especially when actually working the leather on. The toughest part is getting to some of the hog rings deep in the cushion crease, hooking those to the retaining wires/rods and crimping down can be tedious. I reused the existing hog rings...and they are numerous (50, 60?) per seat.

The covers fit very loose initially, but should shrink tight after install to form a tight fit. They actually arrive in a vacuum packed bag to prevent drying out any during transit/storage. Personally, I ran each individual piece through a rinse+spin cycle in the washing machine before installing. This was only to wet the leather to ease working it (no detergent or full wash cycle). The damp leather moves around much easier to help get your seams positioned right, smooth out the panels, and remove creases from having been folded into the shipping package. The leather is baggy as hell at first, but stick it out in the Houston heat a couple hours and they shrink into place perfectly. Turned out uniform and professional looking in my case.

Note that the covers come with NO holes for the head rest mounts, arm rest mount, etc. You have to cut those openings yourself with a blade, which is a bit scary on new leather seats. This makes sense though - you'd be lucky to get the holes to line up anyway. Just don't cut the holes until the leather has had time to dry and shrink into place (e.g. a good warm day) .

As far as the quality of the leather alluded to in this thread over the years, I think it's perfect for the LC. It is thick! 3X what the thin pleather is that it replaces. Much more hardy for the LC's intended use in it's 2nd or 3rd life. Definitely a grain to it, but who needs baby smooth? leave that to the Porsches and Ferraris, I'll take the value of this stuff any day because IMHO it's better than OEM. Not as smooth, but real and boy does it make the rig smell nice!

My only gripe is Lseat will not respond to any of my requests for a console cover, which the 80 appears to get. If I could get them in a conversation I'd offer up a good set of rear skins as a template.

An even better answer than mine - good detail.

BTW, I found the console cover on EBay, removed the top and took it to a local upholstery shop as I didn't have the right glue or staples to make sure the cover went on properly.

What lseat leather color are people getting for the tan interior?
In bright sun I thought that bisque was a perfect match for the aged interior of my 2000 LC100 but I pulled out the samples again when I finally decided to pull the trigger and I just can't tell.

I ordered:S0013 Dark Beige, Thread Color: L013 Dark Beige
I have a gold 2000LX with beige interior. i emailed Lseat and they said this was the color I needed. As I posted earlier I haven't installed them and haven't verified the match first hand but it looks to be the right color for me. I thought at first bisque was right but I now think it is way too light for my LX. I will confirm next week when I get my truck back and will post what I find.

I watch the TV show fast and loud and they take their interior stuff to a funny Asian lady that knocks out beautiful interiors in a couple of days. Show is about GasMonkey garage in Dallas, I'm in Austin wish I had a lady like her in Austin. My seats are fine except the drivers outside edge where you slide your butt across. Have some leather cracks but no separations so I used clear Gorilla tape to protect the seat leather from further damage on that outside panel. Still protected 4 months later (that Gorilla tape is thick and tough). I know a little McGiver ;)

I never thought about asking lseat and did so and they recommended the bisque for a 2000 LC. However my wife's 2001 lx had a lighter leather than mine so if your lx needed darker it makes me more confused.
Let me know how your dark beige work out.
Since I am not doing the backseats I want to get as close a match as I can.
That said my drivers seat bottom portion is so ripped up anything will be an improvement even if not a perfect match.

They will send sample patches out - or did back when I ordered my replacement seat covers.

I decided to go with a two color scheme, using S001 for the body and S0013 for the inserts. I did that since I knew it would not be an exact match so why not change it up (to each their own). Anyway, the S0013 was a pretty close match to the OEM color in my 2000 LX

Has anyone selected the perforated leather option? Wondering how that leather is wearing.

Please post up pictures of your Lseat install's

I am currently waiting on a set of front covers in Dim Grey. My front seat looks terrible. At $328 shipped, this was almost a no-brainer. Will report back to this thread with pics/impressions when they arrive.

I have the sample swatches if anyone wants them. Would be happy to send them to you at no charge as I have no use for them. First to PM gets 'em.

Today i was able to confirm my color and I think the dark beige is my color. The leather is good quality but does have a texture that the OEM seats don't have. I've attached some pictures

I hope this helps.

Would that color match up to the tan of a early 100 series LC?

Good stitching, spacing, etc, please post pictures when you get them install (to see how tight, bloated, loose, funky/perfect they look..

The look like the real deal..

sample pics. dim grey is darker than the actual grey seat color. But this pic makes it look like a decent match.

Lseats are great took 2-3 weeks to be delivered. Bought a hand held steamer 45 degree hog plier and rings probably need around 50 hog rings. Remember how you disassembled oem then transfer all metal rods to new covers and attach hog rings to the original locations. Not perfect but for 324 out the door, for the price quality of you know how to install... It's a Great Buy!

Very nice job! Did you replace seat foam or reuse?
