I have searched but not come up with any useful information on my steering symptoms specific to the GX.
Unfortunately I cannot say exactly when this "started" as I think it has always kind of been there, but since moving to an aftermarket suspension the feeling has become much more apparent. (6112 w/650lb springs, new OEM LCAs, JBA UCAs, ITRE, OTRE, no sway bar, Marlin Crawler HD LCA Brace Kit, alignment, etc.)
During low speed, "harsh" bumps the steering column has a "clunky" feeling. There is no audible clunk, just feels clunky if that makes sense. It is not side-to-side slop, it is vertical "slop" (and I hate to use that term because the steering feels tight horizontally). It is most noticeable on fire roads/trails with baseball-softball sized rocks throughout. It feels similar to my 01 Tacoma did prior to adding a tack weld to the slip joint in the steering column.
Anyone else experience this? Am I missing information on a well known characteristic of these trucks (I hesitate to call it an issue because I have a feeling this is a purposeful feature of the steering column. I.E. play from the rag joint).
