Break a die in half. Clamp it over bolt, then back the die off the end of the bolt/stud.

This sums up my progress

License bracket. Factory holes are unmolested.

Nice.....get that son.

Tell CCOT their holes don't line up. They appreciate that feedback. The Chinese will let their dies go slack. They sent a whole container of fenders back once because the holes did not line up.

i was also taken back when i opened up all the emblems i bought when i fist started ordering and noticed that none of them have any hardware.....

anyone know the metric size for the nuts that go on the back of the 4wd and toyota emblems on the rear passenger side quarter panel? figured it was like an m6 or something. with fine threads....

The rear Toyota emblem is a turd. You'll have to get the 5mm nuts (id use stainless nylocs if you can find them) and make spacers that span from the back side of the body along the shaft of the screw (since they are long)

i noticed that. the threaded shaft has a shoulder space that is like 1/2" long.....will need a stack of washers i am sure...

hopefully, the gasket that i got with it will help the spacing...

also, all of the holes that are for those 2 emblems, as well as the front "land cruiser" one, have been plug welded......at least i can see them for reference...

Working on my ignition switch. I have a new one to replace the old.

Don't ask why. I can't answer.

Can anyone tell me if there is supposed to be some kind of spring inside here to return the key to the on position after "starting" ?

I feel like there is a spring or something missing. Below is everything that came out of the inside of the ignition cylinder.

And while we're at it on the steering and ignition side. Does anyone have a bearing snap ring? Mine gave out.

Never took mine apart, but the key if def supposed to return after you turn it.

Try Montgomery Ace in Fondren for the snap ring; is be surprised if they didn't have one.

i am pretty sure that is why they had a push start on this 40......somewhere along the line the 'return' spring broke.....i will do some digging....

will check ace....

I thought you bought a new key cylinder

I bought a new one for mine
i did....and a new ignition switch....

what i was wondering was if there was a spring in the ignition housing that made the key return...it is not in the key cylinder.....

Well. The Green Goblin is back on all fours for a bit. First time to see daylight since early summer.

Summary of the recent:

Axles and brakes finished.

All brake lines redone-pardon the crapola bends in places. New clutch line as well

Steering column done. New coupler and pad. Steering wheel being worked on now.

Also integrated a "Downey off road" modified gas pedal to work with a throttle cable.

Shocks. New steering hardware and tre's

Bumperettes and new lights.

I'm happy with progress and results thus far. It's no #2buckets job, more like #1bucket......
