Guys, I lost a bunch of data when my hard drive crashed so wondering if maybe a few people (for confirmation/averaging) could take their digital calipers (or a micrometer) and get the following measurements in millimeters from a Full Float rear axle spindle and stock shaft (80 Series) if you have any of these parts laying around (ie: don't pull your rear axle apart for this)

Please don't round off your measurements or try to match what someone else got, just post up what you actually measured:

1) ID (bore) of a Rear spindle ie: take a few measurements ~1/4" into the spindle bore

2) OD of a stock rear axle shaft seal contact area. It would help to get a couple measurements at different depths on the machined seal contact area ie: take one measurement closer to the flange, another in the middle, compare to where the seal lips have been riding

Please post up what you actually get, there are no wrong answers (ie: don't try to get it close to what someone else measured unless you're way off, then re-measure)

No rush, this request is for anyone with a new or old rear axle shaft or axle housing laying around (or if you/re in the middle of a rear axle service) that should work (this saves me from having to pull my rear axle back apart to get the measurements ;)). If you can please clean off any grease/crud and remove any rust before taking your measurements. If the axle shaft seal contact area is extremely worn get a measurement further up the shaft (toward the flange) ie away from the wear.

Example (not actual):
Rear axle shaft OD (machined surface): 34.85mm
Rear axle spindle ID (bore): 40.90mm

Thanks

Shaft OD (machined surface): 35.01mm
Spindle ID (bore): Will Update tomorrow

I still have the axle seals in, which I will pull tomorrow and measure.

@landtank : I tried to recover the data, what I got was 85,000 files with no headers which means I have to open every file to see what it is.

@NeverFinis : Thanks for the shaft OD, no need to pull your axle apart, there's no rush. I'm sure there are others who might have an axle housing laying around.

@Mat Jadamec : Thanks for the spindle/shaft numbers. I also get ~ 41.10 OD (for a new seal). The dimensions from a seal are variable due to the flexibility of the rubber and garter spring so can't work off the seal numbers.
