With mixed emotions I'm putting up my FJ60. It's been a very sweet rig and used quite a bit in the outdoor industry for Dometic, Front Runner, and North Face (shot by Chris Burkard). Full write up, all the imperfect disclosures, large detailed gallery, and walk around and engine start videos can be found here: www.fj60forsale.com

It's been accepted by Bring a Trailer, but trying the private route first - auctions make me nervous.

$35,000 or best offer.

Genuine question and not trying to be a douche - what is so special about your rig to make you ask $35k for it? I'm coming from a relatively ignorant perspective when it comes to the 60-series so apologies if I missed something.

Because it’s Instagram ready? :)

In all seriousness, nice truck and GLWS

All questions welcome! Like with most things there is a comparable element to what current sales are yielding and there is the perceived element that compliments that. Like a house- if you really are drawn to a certain flooring, you may be more willing to meet the ask. Rolled into the perceived value is also feedback. The feedback for anyone who sees this truck, and that includes strangers, as well speciality shop like K&H or even ex Man-a-fre employees, has been outstanding with many conversations about value. This vehicle receives unsolicited offers which I've always shrugged off as I never thought I'd sell it. Probably should have started a database of those!

In looking at recent sales / comps; you have the amazing rebuilds from TLC or ones that have swapped in a Vortec, and other modernized components, going for ~75k. Then you have some medium to light refurbished ones where everything works, paint is flawless or fresh and interior is clean for ~45k. Then you have the occasional one like mine which is a very well-maintained, decent paint, no body damage, very clean interior, flawless dash, smog ready for California, and lightly upgraded with some extras like a rack, wheels, tires, suspension, cargo slide, etc which can fall in the ~35k range. Then you have some that may have a dirtier or flawed interior, cracked dash, maybe some body panel damage, for somewhere in the ~20-28 range. All of these sales I've been tracking on Bring a Trailer among other channels.

So between the comps and the perceived value, I averaged it out to the asking price. Others are sure to disagree which is fine, and expected, while others will say this is a steal for that price. At the end of the day, vehicles, like houses, are worth what someone pays for them and I believe this is a well-informed price. Hopefully you find this helpful and I'm absolutely willing to continue the conversation. Thanks!

Beautiful rig brother and I get where you’re coming from with your price and the quality that has gone into the rig and the fact of the matter there’s a personal history/bond between man and his 60. With that being said I truly hope you reach your asking price but the market is up and down sometimes and unless you have a diesel under that hood it’s hard to get those numbers even with what you have invested. I hope you do but there’s so many great 60’s out there that are very vey clean and well put together for low 20’s.

I wish you all the best man, she’s definitely eye candy👍

Fair enough! Hey best of luck with the sale and with your future endeavors!

If it doesn't sell then I'll just tell my wife that I couldn't break the bond :). Would suit ME fine ha! Thanks!

put it on BAT, you will not get $35K here for this beauty.

Mine was denied twice by BAT. I think yours will do well there. GLWS

Thank you! Although auctions do make me nervous a bit. From what I understand they push hard for low reserves since they earn a commission from the buyer (if it passes reserves of course).

Agree. There other folks that will pay for this rig at this price on BAT. It’s shown true many a time. Mud will not get you what you want. Many here are DiYers who value savings. BAT crowd want a rig that is not a project and want to start adventure at the hammer down. So they will pay that price.

Geez I think I need to list my rusty 87 FJ60! If you're asking $35,000 I should easily get $15,000 for mine!
