All questions welcome! Like with most things there is a comparable element to what current sales are yielding and there is the perceived element that compliments that. Like a house- if you really are drawn to a certain flooring, you may be more willing to meet the ask. Rolled into the perceived value is also feedback. The feedback for anyone who sees this truck, and that includes strangers, as well speciality shop like K&H or even ex Man-a-fre employees, has been outstanding with many conversations about value. This vehicle receives unsolicited offers which I've always shrugged off as I never thought I'd sell it. Probably should have started a database of those!
In looking at recent sales / comps; you have the amazing rebuilds from TLC or ones that have swapped in a Vortec, and other modernized components, going for ~75k. Then you have some medium to light refurbished ones where everything works, paint is flawless or fresh and interior is clean for ~45k. Then you have the occasional one like mine which is a very well-maintained, decent paint, no body damage, very clean interior, flawless dash, smog ready for California, and lightly upgraded with some extras like a rack, wheels, tires, suspension, cargo slide, etc which can fall in the ~35k range. Then you have some that may have a dirtier or flawed interior, cracked dash, maybe some body panel damage, for somewhere in the ~20-28 range. All of these sales I've been tracking on Bring a Trailer among other channels.
So between the comps and the perceived value, I averaged it out to the asking price. Others are sure to disagree which is fine, and expected, while others will say this is a steal for that price. At the end of the day, vehicles, like houses, are worth what someone pays for them and I believe this is a well-informed price. Hopefully you find this helpful and I'm absolutely willing to continue the conversation. Thanks!
