All-Terrain T/A KO

Bridgestone
Dueler A/T Revo 2

both: 285/65-18

both basically same in price

Depends on what you want out of them. I have had both and my choice is neither, but that is me. The Goodrich will wear forever, ride ok, but I had little to no luck with them in the snow or mud.

The Revo is a great on road tire that will do ok off road. Not as strong sidewall wise or as aggressive.

I am now on my second set of Nitto TG and, for me, offer the best compromise of looks, off road and on road performance, and good wear.

If I had to pick out of the two, the BFGs. If I had my choice? Either the Nitto TerraGs or Toyo Open Country A/Ts.

I will third Nitto Terra Grapplers for best all around highway-allterrain tire out there.

How are they for noise? The Nitto TG tread 'looks' pretty noisy to me. Understandably, any AT tire is going to be more noisy than a highway LT tire.

But I agree, they look great on the folk's who've posted pics!

between the 2 in the OP I would get the Revos, but in 265
(I did)

Phil, the TGs really? I've not heard so much acclaim. Did I have bum set or something, I was NOT impressed with their winter performance at all (though I know you're in the desert).

Pint ran them and drove all over colorado in the winter with them. He loved them.

I have never run them in the snow but there is a CSC member in Prescott that swears by them:meh:

I have seen Nittos on an 80 and BFG AT's on another 80 side by side and the Nitto were better. My 80 was the one with the BFG AT's during the testing:eek:

The best part wife approved...ran the Nitto's on the '06 - silent

im glad this has come up, im trying to decide on my next set of tires- i need something that wont get too bogged down in mud, and that can handle some snow (im in louisiana, moving to DC soon) and i was trying to decide between the BFG and nitto. which is better for mud (not mudding, just general muddiness everywhere)? it looks like most of you favor nitto, but it also looks like most of yall do desert type trails. i had thought about trail grapplers, but they seem too aggressive for me.

Both BFG TA and Nitto TG suck in the mud for the most part all AT tires suck in the mud. If you want a good mud tire Ground Hawg makes a tire that can handle mud but not wife approved, at least at my house

let me know when you get to dc, lets go wheeling. and i have said it before and will say it again, and i know its a totally different class of tire, but i love my destination MT's if you are looking for mud/ more aggresive performance. May not be wife approved for most, but passed the test in my house. They do astonishingly well in almost all conditions but do make a little noise on the highway. I would not recommend them for someone looking at the nitto terra as my buddies nittos handle much more like a road tire. But they have better road manners than any mt i have ridden on.

I ran the Nitto TG's on my FJC in W. Colorado for a bit over a year and thought they worked pretty well in the snow and ice. Just a pretty decent all around tire IMHO

drove Nitto TG on FJC...winter in snow...mud...rain...heat...loose rock...rotated all 5 tires every 3-4k miles and lasted almost 50+ thousand miles. Not noisy at all and handle mud and snow better than BFG AT in my opinion. Never had an issue except in deep sticky red Georgia Clay...and most things have problems in that mess.

Based on two sets of Terra Grapplers....I went to Trail Grapplers this time...noisier and more aggressive but the cool factor is way up there too. I will put up with a little more noise than an all terrain...but much less than Interco and Goodyear MTs.

Another VERY satisfied Nitto TerraG user here. We had some very intense snows here in Colorado this past winter, and in my line of work we don't get "snow days" (formerly employed as an EMT, now a cop). The Nittos tore through every kind of snow/ice that CO can dish out over a rather lenghty commute down highway 85 with no issues. Slid off road once in 3+ foot deep drifts, put my Yukon in 4-low and crawled right out. Too boot, they are d*mn near silent on the road in dry conditions, which continues to amaze me to this day given the tread pattern and performance. Never experienced any deep mud situations with them so I can't attest to their performance in that area, but I've heard they do fine. I actually talked my former chief into buying them for two of our patrol cars, and he LOVES them.

Between the two listed I'd choose the BFGs, but given the choice I'd pick TerraG's any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Nitto TG were very unstable in snow. I did not like them at all. I liked the Revo's for on-road performance and KO's for off road and snow. KO's are rated with severe weather rating (snowflake symbol. Only KO's are given this rating of the three tires mentioned (snow tires also have this rating) In Oregon and maybe other states, the rating is required over mt passes or chains) and did very well in the snow for me. I frequent the canyons for skiing and snowmobiling, and sometimes during blizzard like conditions. BFG KO's were the best for that. Of course, I'm talking with a foot of snow or less (never tried to get into anything deeper with any of the three tires). Any more, Im sure MT's would be better.

So if you're going to off road more than say 20% of the time, I'd say KO. If yours is a road queen with occasional fireroads and very mild trails, Revo's a good tire.

thanks for the advice for choosing between the two. i think ill have to price them both out at local places and make my final choice, but i am leaning toward the nittos for now.
