My 80 is my DD and still cruising to the mall.
But the painted pinstripe is showing it's age.
I've been looking around and found a website with many options in pinstripe size and type.
Has anyone changed theirs? Please post some pics.

I'm considering 1 stripe either 1/2" wide x 50 or 1" wide x 50.

Think it would look weird too wide?

Can I go over the old painted pinstripe?

Here is the page

They sell that stuff at autoparts stores, to match most pinstripe jobs out there. While it's fresh it's easy to pull off if you decide you don't like it. If your old pinstriping is really baked and cracked, you'll still see it under the new stuff if you look closely but looks good from a distance if you go slow and keep it all lined up.

Any Auto Body Paint Supply store will carry the exact size and color for your rig. You could also change the color if you wanted with the correct size stripes, solid stripe or graphic options they carry.

Been to 2 auto parts stores and they have cheezy-ghay pin stripe.

Are you absolutely sure it is painted? I would be surprised unless it was from a hot rod shop. There are good pinstripes that are decals, that look like they are painted... had some on a BMW, and removed them. I think a 1" or even 1/2" pinstripe would look really weird.

I 'changed' my painted pinstripe 13years after the PO's dealer put it on kinda crooked - by deleting it all together. The procedure I've used for all painted pinstripe removal is easy-off oven cleaner, several clean rags and water. Wash the truck vehicle before you start, or you can scratch the clear-coat badly. I apply easy-off to a small section of the pinstripe (no more than a foot at a time). then work it off using the rag - trying to just apply pressure with a finger on the pinstripe itself. Do use gloves for this, easy-off removes skin over time. Before you go to the 'next' section, neutralize the easy-off by rinsing the 'previous' section with water first.

I'm not a pinstripe fan, mostly because I used to sell new cars fresh out of collage, and pinstripe was just a revenue generator. However, if you prefer them, I'd remove the old ones first, and start fresh. Going over what was there, never looks 'better' IMO.

WHAT TF?

I re did mine ..just a basic roll from pep boys....and added a 2" along the door centerline...pics in my garage...FWIW its easier for me to start at the back and dont do it on windy days or when its too hot...and a thin dab of clear nail polish at the tips

Go to an Auto "PAINT" Supply Store not your local parts store.
They have books of options for you to look at and compare.

Being in the auto industry all my life, I have pinstriped and graffixed countless vehicles, as well as saved certain trucks on this very list fro certain death in offroad incidents- As a truck/off roader for most my life as well I would never put stickers on my paint- Once rubbed/scratched they will be pushed into paint/clear and be much more difficult to remove
and pia when it comes to waxing
That being said ...most speed and detail shops have bunches of styles albeit a little dated
