I can't seem to find a NON-$1000+ rear bumper for my '00 LX. Nothing fancy. No swingouts. Just a good steel bumper to replace stock plastic cover.

Do they exist for around $500-600 ??

Ask a local fabricator, I haven't seen anything that cheap but others may have. I think your safest bet is just having one custom fabbed.

4x4labs basic rear bumper kit is around $500.00. The catch, for that price, is that you have to weld and paint it yourself. Very popular bumper with the 80 series guys but don't see it as much on 100 forum.

You could run with no bumper, it's free and less prone to damage than the plastic anyway, adds a lot of departure angle, etc. Just leave the steel that was behind the plastic or the hitch and you'll have the same protection you have now. Anything worth buying or custom is going to run 1000 on up anyway.

The problem is this...it's not a Jeep. It's a full size SUV, luxury at that. So any bumper is going to be nearing the highest quality, design, and safety features to begin with. A custom bumper is a good way to go for uniqueness, and to be different, but keep in mind the size of this vehicle and the amount of bracing it will require to withstand a blow when you come off a ledge.

Since a rear bumper is not in my budget, I took a saw to my rear bumper and cut off 3", and added a NATO pintle hitch to the frame. That gives me towing, clearance, and the aftermarket look. I do not add any weight either.

And definitely confirms you are from the south!

Do you have a picture of your set up?

They're all over this forum. Go look in the pictures thread for about 5 minutes and you'll see plenty of pictures of his truck.

Or do a search.

Or you could just let the factory bumper get beat to hell like I did.

As soon as you start adding steel bumpers you will want to upgrade the suspension.

As long as your upgrading the suspension why not add some lift?

Now that you have all that clearance why not go with a bigger tire?

Those factory alloy wheels just don't look right with the new larger aggressive tires, better get some steelies.

All that extra weight, better upgrade to stronger axles.

It's a slippery slope, just sayin'

Best looking rear bumper I've seen. If I could design a steel bumper, I'd say "Here, make this outa steel"

If I ever pull the trigger on another rear bumper it will be this one, I think it could be the least expensive option for a 100:

How proven is that thing? I was not even aware it existed.

$1300 dollars is cheap for a dual swing out but with 3 american made options that are not that much more expensive I don't think I'm going to be the one to find out.

The Slee, 4x4labs, and BIOR bumpers are all small shop specials from the southwestern US at reasonable prices. The each have unique and awesome features making it so I can't seem to pick the one I want.

Andy, I'm sure you get what you pay for when it comes to bumpers. You deserve nothing less than Slee. Lol..

Well in that case it must not be good...

Its the least expensive bumper I'm aware of for a 100 series and that is what the OP was asking for...

I think it looks great and would be awsome for the camping trips I go on and if the hydraulic assists on the swing outs work that would be awesome.

If you look for Land Cruiser bumpers, "Made In China", you will find their bumpers. Going by the prices offered from China, there is a pretty big markup for these. You have to buy them in quantity to get the best deal. Mixed container loads of front and rear bumpers.

May be OK but would like to hear from people that have bought and used them.

I have to agree they look good and the price is tempting. Anyone tried one?
