Hi,

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this post as I am new to the forum. Anyway, here goes. Does anyone know someone who successfully imported a Bandeirante Dupla Cabine? I'm looking to avoid re-inventing the wheel if someone has gone before me.

you and me brother, let me know if you figure it out.

I had called two auto importers two years ago to find out if they could find me a Bandeirante, they both told me that they would not import from Brazil. They would not go into detail about why, just said that it was too much trouble.
Good luck with this.

TLC did......

I bought a set of Brazil doors from TLC...

I was under the impression, that it was becoming too difficult to even bother. That was back in spring of 2002.

I currently have a couple friends down in Brazil searching for a Bandeirante (pronounced 'band-deer-ronch') Cabina Dupla. The oldest we have found so far is a 1983. Not 25 years old, but close. There are many in the mid-1980's available

Again, and I said this in another thread about bandy's: The biggest obsticle, making it difficult to deal in Brazil, is the cultural, political, and language barrier.

the double cab, 4 doors were only made towards the end of the Bandi production, i think around 1998-2001

jonathan at TLC has brought in 3 of them and is trying to get a few more over here from what i hear. he's also the only guy who's done it afaik. bringing things ovr from brazil and columbia seems to be very difficult if not impossible, and that's about the only place the crew cab bandis seem to be available.

i think these rigs are every cruiser heads ultimate dream cruiser. i finally got to see guy's about a month ago and it looks even better in person. i'll keep dreaming.:)

I like the way they don't even put a price to this one.

If I could only win the loto this would be one of the first oversea trips I would make. If Johnathan can do it there must be a way.

Cheers,

you fly down with fj40 tags and drive one back :)

That won't really work because you will have to have an entrance certificate for the 'FJ40' in order to exit the country with the FJ40. Otherwise, it will be assumed you bought it in Brasil.
But, Brasil will know that the FJ40 VIN you bring down does not exist in Brasil. Thus, you will have to prove that you entered Brasil with the 'FJ40'. If you cannot prove it with the entrance docs, you will be S.O.L. Also, Bandy's are made in Brasil. So the VIN tags are different.

Your best bet would be to have someone in Brasil take VIN tags from an older Bandy and put them on a newer one.

Also, you cannot drive from S. America to Central America across the Darian Gap. You will have to freight from Brasil or Venezuela (or another country).

I do like your idea tho.

I've mentioned this in a few other threads, but I have a connection in Colombia ready and willing to help with this. The guy is a manager for a Colombian cement importer with mucho port connections in Colombia and elsewhere. He just stopped by my office two days ago with some pics he snapped of Colombian cruisers. I spoke with him before he left and described what to look for, he spoke with his people over there and they are all for it. He mentioned that land cruisers are ONLY driven by the wealthy in Colombia, which he seemed excited about for some reason.

Parts

There is easy to me find some parts like Floor, door, rear sets and others. I will studie this and come back with news, if it´s possible to send it. The question is that maybe is much more easy to you made a new door (fiber....plastic or iron) and maybe you will spend less money...

A door here is about $300 but it´s a original and new door. More taxes and fees will be very expensive maybe...

Or we can change some parts!! You send me on OME suspension kit and I send door, floor and this things to you!

Just a joke....I really would like to puy one of theses kits in my rig.
