Was it welded around the entire edge or are there gaps between the welds of larger than 3" or 4". If there are large gaps between the welded areas it would need to either be completely welded or you could leave 1" of over lap and plug weld/ roset weld for strength. 5/16" is the standard size plug weld for panel replacement. Either way it should be seam sealed before under coating or painting. Seam sealer comes in tubes squeezable/cualk gun cartrage or cans of brushable which works best with an acid brush. If the floor pan section is the only area that would need seam sealing I would recomend a sqeeze tube. This should be available at any auto parts place that carries auto paint supplies.

Electric angle grinders with cut off wheels cut sheet metal very quickly so I would score the metal in small sections that would be able to be bent on the scored edge to break off the unwanted sheet metal (like peeling an orange).

I was just going to say that.

Keeping the tires?

Lol. Rubbers

Just picked up a nice set of steelies from Jim, thanks Jim! Not sure if I will keep the tires or not, I would like to get some tall skinnys for this 40. Any suggestions?

I'd keep the bumpers. Even if you want to replace them with stock bumperettes and the flimsy stock front bumper. You may have a change of heart someday and the ARB in the front is nice to have as an option. The stock ones don't offer much for protection.

I was going to go with this bumper when I put a new lift on it. http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/coolfj40_2206_52013043

I found some BFG ATs 33 X 9.5 for 870 for 5 with free shipping, good deal?

Still have not found who makes that rear bumper, anyone know?

That is a nice minimalist bumper. I didn't see the price but it doesn't seem to difficult to make yourself if the price is too steep.

The BFG deal seems pretty good to me. But, I haven't priced tires out lately. I seem to have payed something similar for 5 33x10.5x15 about a year or two ago plus free shipping from Discounttiredirect.com

The rear bumper looks like it may be a smittybilt. But, not sure on that.

This is what I'm thinking of selling, let me know if I'm off base on prices.
5'X5'X6" roof rack with clamps- 200 bucks
5 Alum alloy rims with 4 almost new Yokohama 31X10.5R15 Geolander ATS and one crappy tire on the spare- 800 Bucks
Set of Corbeau LG1 bucket seats- (like new) 400 bucks
ARB bumper with back bumper- 600 bucks

Took Xfactor's advice and went carefully and cut. Came out great, and now I have a nice 3" cutter from Harbor Freight to add to the tool box.

Excellent, glad to hear it came out with good results. Multiple layers can be a pain to deal with.

Putting the tires and rims on the classifieds after my daughters softball game this evening. Let me know if someone here is intrested.

It was good to meet you and talk yesterday. It's great that you could get that old metal cut out, too. Not get some sort of sealing coating on the new stuff and you should be good.

Oh, and I made back from Ann Arbor already. Cruiser ran great!

If Todd doesn't take the seats I am very interested. I see you mentioned lifting it, I have a set of 4" rough country springs I just took off my 40, that need a new home.

Gumby first, Booty second on the seats. Have the tires and rims on the classifieds now, will knock another 100 bucks off to the Windy city guys. Roof rack and bumpers go on classifieds this weekend. Thanks-
