I'm looking for new upper shock tabs so I can run longer travel shocks with the new a-arms. anyone other than downey or total chaos make tabs (too pricey)? I would take it to a shop for a custom set but I'm worried they'll need to remove the upper arms and I'd rather do all that myslef. I'm looking for something pre-fabed.

We kinda need to know what model vehicle you're talking about. Doesn't sound like a question for an 80-series.

guess you don't keep up in the truck section here. but it's for my '86 with the long travel rancho arms.

Doesn't really matter how much a person keeps up, we can't remember everything.

My advice:
remove your torsion bars and bump stops. Cycle the suspension from metal to metal and use that as a starting point for a measurement.

As for the towers, buy the infamous Ford F250 towers. They're cheap and easy to modify (which you will have to do after making your measurements and finding a shock that has 1/2" more compression/extension than your measurements dictate).

I didn't mean to come off sounding like a smart ass, atleast that's how I think you took it. But I did state about the a-arms, don't know of any other toyota application that uses a-arms and would need longer shock tabs (tacoma but that's a coil over). Thanks for the ideas but I don't have time to keep messing with my truck, I need something pre-fabed and low cost (under $100). keeping up with 2 trucks while in school doesn't leave much time for more hours at work.
