Hi I'm Jeremy I'm an excavator operator from New Zealand here to show you guys my 80 series cruiser.

I bought this truck about a year ago already built for a fairly good price. The previous owner has done an excellent job on the truck so my plan is to fix up some minor issues and change a few things to suit my needs and style.

Since I have owned it I have done normal maintenance had the front diff housing rebuilt and am current having the cracks in the chassis welded and plated. Im hoping this will finally resolve the steering/death wobble issues I'm having.

I have a lot planned for this truck and am hoping to make some good progress on it as soon as I can find a decent place to work on it. This is in the pipeline and should be happening soon.

Here's a list of mods from the PO:

Custom radius arm flip and x-link to allow more flex but also has a lock pin to provide great on road handling
Fully reconditioned brakes front and rear incl full set of front pistons 2 weeks ago
37x12.5x17 bfg km2’s almost brand new on bead lock steel wheels (32bolt)
GME 3500 prs radio

At the bottom of your posts is your name. Just to the right of it should be an "Edit" button. May be because you're new if it's missing. On some forums, if the orginal post is re-edited by a new member, it throws the whole thing back to needing moderation. Don't know if that's true here, but may be why if it is. Keep posting, it may go away after a few more posts/comments.

BTW, nice truck. I have a penpal in New Zealand who keeps planes flying up near Bay of Plenty.

Thanks mate I guess I am still on probation

I'm a bit further north of BOP but have spent many a raucous summer down at the mount/Tauranga area

That looks choice bro!

Very nice truck!

How much boost are you running ...? ( I miss it from your intro ..? )

nice 80 ..
Hi mate I missed this post. Am currently running the standard turbo @ about 12psi. Looking at upgrading the turbo soon.. will probably go for a Steve Murch CT26 recore for now. He is a local builder who does lots of turbos in NZ and Australia.

Hey..very nice. Dig the Samurai (Jimny) in the second clip.

Hi guys a bit of an update and a bit of a cry for help too.

Last time I posted I mentioned I was getting the cracks in the chassis welded up. This has been done to a somewhat average standard imo. But appears to be holding up and is under warranty so that's besides the point really. I was however still having death wobble issues so I swapped the bead locked 37's for a set of 35" trepadors on 15" steel rims. This has fixed the death wobble issue for the most part. There is still a slight wobble which I believe is a balance issue as I havent had the wheels balanced yet. I can live with this for now.

What I didnt mention is that when I had the diff rebuilt is that the front diff lock light is always on since I have had the truck back. Whenever I had had the truck in 4x4 (part time kit) the steering has been very heavy and wanting to pull the wheels back to the centre position. I confirmed the front is locked today by jacking the front up and spinning the front wheels with the truck in park. Both font wheels spun together obviously. So I figure I need to pull the front actuator and see if it's working or not so I can unlock the front. HOWEVER when I put the front hubs into "free" and put the truck back into 4wd (on the road) the steering is still heavy and almost undriveable.

To my understanding it should drive the same as when its in 2wd until I manually lock the front hubs? Can anyone shed some light on this for me as I'm a bit out of my depth here but I want to resolve this ASAP so I can get my truck back in the bush.

Cheers
