Aaaaand....they over filled it. Thankfully I just bought a vacuum oil pump for use on the boat so I'll put that to use on fixing this.

The manual specifically states to wait 8 minutes after warm up to properly check the oil. I'm guessing they didn't do that, filled it, checked it and filled it some more since it read low. Now I'm a good 3/4 inch over the full dot.

2/3s of a quart over. Not the end of the world but with only a 4.5 quart dry fill that's about a 20% over. Right at the upper dot on the dip stick now.

I stopped letting others change my oil 30 years ago after all my skid plate bolts were stripped out.

After Ourisman damaged my 4R (stupidity & ignorance) I didn’t go back for my remaining oil changes.

What'd they do?

We did the first two (toyotacare free) oil changes on my wife's T4R at Priority in Springfield.

They apparently used an impact gun on the drain plug during one (or both) and distorted the lower pan.

This is the same dealership that:
- Offered an $8k (highest) trade on a tacoma I sold two months later for $22k
- Parts dept charges 50-100% over MSRP
- Messed up a 3rd brake light gasket recall and took all day
- Immediately blamed DIY oil changes after looking at the carfax records for pinging I was experiencing in a 3.5L 2GR-FKS under heavy load in hot weather

Anyone have a recommended source (either local or online) for high quality metric bolts? The ones that came with my ASFIR aluminum skid plates weren't great and I'm already missing quite a few, so I just want to replace the entire set and get some spares in the process.

You can filter by JIS too which is a bonus.

I think this guy is a forum supporter if you can find what you're looking for there.

Not local, but they've had what I needed a few times

I wasn't able to sync up with Paul so I just took the random service writer they gave me after scheduling service on their website. I had to argue with him the that the maintenance interval was 5,000 miles OR 6 months. Dude tried to tell me it was only a "maintenance" at that interval and all they'd do was rotate the tires. I had to pull out the owners manual and show him, still didn't believe me. I told him we needed to talk to the service manager. The service manager wouldn't look at the manual but decided to look up the vehicle on Toyota's system. Finally at that point he agreed, apologized and they took my car back. So effing frustrating. It's almost not worth the hassle to get my 6 included oil changes.
I have had three bad experiences with this dealership. First, damaged end cap on one my running boards. Ordered and paid for it. Then, scheduled the install and decided that they did not order the right part and re-scheduled. Then, took the 4R in and they decided they did not have time to install and gave me a loaner and told me to come back. Then, came back and gave me a bill for over $900 for an $80 part that I paid for in advance. Come to find out, they installed new running boards instead of the end cap. They ended up putting the old running boards back and the end cap. Then, took the 4R in for the 40K service at 845 am and waited on it until 2 pm in the afternoon. Charged me additional to rotate my spare.

Whats your guys experience with Alexandria Lindsay Lexus service dept?
I had the PPI done on my LX there a few years ago. They were pleasant, communicative and I thought did a good job identifying some items that needed to be addressed. They sent some notes in following weeks or months to see if I wanted to schedule time to drop the LX off but that’s about it. Obviously a limited and easy service if you will, but they seemed to be a good group.

I will say they did seem very busy and even getting the car out took a bit. Chantilly definitely has less volume, which could be why they let me go back into the shop, see it on the rack, and talk with the techs. Chantilly, for these reasons, as well as being closer gets the business when necessary.

Try Stump

Does anyone in the club, or anyone in the club know someone, who does 3D printing? This Toyota boat has an outrageously over complicated switch setup that has now become unreliable. Not a good thing since this includes the bilge pump. I want to 3D print 2 panels that'll fit these spaces with cut outs for standard Carling sealed rocker switches. I suppose the hard part would be doing the renders so if that talent is out there, let me know.
