I need a locker and I am down to the aussie locker and the loc right. Any one have these, what are you expierences with them. The review from pirate made it sound like the aussie is the way to go. I'd like some opinions because I think I'm going to order one tommorrow.

Thanks.

you're not ordering anything

I have the Aussie (rear ) and very happy with it . After sales service also excellent .
It reponds like any other auto-locker .
Clicking only audible when windows open but not from inside cab.
So far about 10 thousand happy miles with it .
Cannot really add a negative comment .

Have aussie's on one vehicle, Lock-Rites on the other. Can't tell any differences in driving between the two. Both have been great.. The Lock-rites have seen years of abuse, no problems. The single pin springs on the Aussie's are a tad bit easier to deal with than the double spring lock-Rights.

From my perspective, they would both fit your needs equally. I personally have an Aussie installed.

What about a detroit Locker? I hear they are very strong.

I've got the Aussie in my 55. It is a bit noisy on the street but it's been worth it on the trail.

i have an aussie. it was out back and now it stays up front.

I loved it out back but love it much more up front.

if you are talking about a traditional detroit you would be correct they are indeed very strong as they replace the entire carrier but they also co$$$$t (i have one out back and love it) also since ring and pinion has to be redone that cost addition as well for most people.

if you are talking about the "tru track" or whatever its called (the detroit lunchbox locker) it would be comparable to the aussie, loc rite or any other lunchbox locker.

Aussie

Vote for an Aussie. I heard they are back ordered again

I have an aussie up front and a lockright in the rear.
Dont have too much experience with the Aussie yet, but so far Im diggin it. the lockright has been SOLID and works as it should ALL THE TIME.
The reason I went with the Lockright, was because of the back order (mentioned above).
The lockright is a bit cheaper.

You wont believe the difference a locker will make if you havent experienced it already.

The Aussies are Backordered. I ordered front and rear units about 3 weeks ago, and expect them soon. Lots of the local LC guys here run Aussies, and they all say just place your order and wait. I have been on plenty of trails with these lockers and no complaints. LandSpeeder just switched from 35's (very little noise) to 37's and the clicking is much louder.

Sounds like the aussie will the job just fine. I never considered putting it up front... I live in arizona it seems a little scary having an autolocker in the front driving in sand.
Do most use these in the rear or do they really work ok in the front?
Which would I gain the most traction?
I talked to the people who make the aussie locker and they are on backorder but they said they should have them in a week or two weeks again so I think I'll just put the order in.
Thanks for all the replies, I just got back from sedona, az and got to try out the new tires I was amazed at what these things will climb without out the locker can't wait to have one. in the desert the softer steep climbs can be pretty tricky without.

if your only putting in 1 locker do the rear first.

aussie. had one in my 60 and have one in my 45 and loved them both. also have two lockrights, one in each pig. aussies are easier to install (pin/spring config is easier). also, lockrights have a fair history of damage...i've only heard of one aussie breaking and they guy had 40"s and a v/8. when bill heard about this, he told the guy to contact him for warranty replacement. yes, they haven't been around as long as lockright, but they are out there and getting abused and handling it. aussies cost less. only downside is they are usually backordered.

Talked with the Aussie guys yesterday and they confirmed that the shipment is in route and they will be shippping our units this week or next. Get 'em while they are hot!

Full blown detroits are incredibly strong, but have a pretty big drawback - if you snap an axle on the trail and it snaps near the detroit, you've got a fairly high probability of busting the detroit as well.

As others said, it's not as easy of an install as a lockrite or aussie.
