Lucky guys..
Too far for me to make it..
Hope you have tons of safe fun..

I'm going to try and make it, no winch but will bring come-along plus straps and chain, also I think I have a set of chains that are big enough for my 33/12.50 tires.

i have a 100 footer tuggum rope, unreal beast. you can hit third gear by the end and there is NO shock load or jerk, bang. it is like a huge elastic band.

tire chains are a good idea.

So, we're getting a little closer to the date of the run. I secured the day off work, so i'm good to go. Is everyone else?

Seems like Wayne, Bernie, Robin, RHD, and myself are still in? Correct me if i'm wrong...

yes, and we have a few non-LJs showing up as well.
the route is going to be along the wiperous creek back to the ice flow, then crossing the creek 5 or 6 times to the falls.
we will be eating there and then back out to the 4 corners where we will head south to do some trail maintainence (cutting fallen trees).
return to Calgary for a well deserved Pizza supper.
bring your cameras, chain saws and tugg'ms...

i know many of us are looking froward to getting together...
cheers

welll...

that sucks.

hopefully you feel a bit of a cold coming on...

cheers

s***, you guys (and gals). I'm out. Tomorrow I'll be the only one in the building capable of dealing with any potential computer problems. I didn't know others were taking time off between Christmas and the new year.

Sorry for the late notice...I was looking forward to the run, though when it comes down to it, my tires are useless and I don't have chains. It would be a stuckfest. Mind you, the Labour Day run was a stuckfest as well, and that was a hell of a lot of fun.

Wayne, is the River Shiver happening this year? I thought the Waiparous area was recently closed to 4X4s? Or is that only during the summer?

the River Shiver is still on, we are going to be clearing some of the legal trails tomorrow on the way back out...
sorry to hear you can't make it...
Happy New years to yah...

Sorry I didn't come it would have been a nightmare getting out there, it was snowing like crazy in Fernie when I was planning on leaving.

Anyone have any pictures of the run, be great to see how it went.

real poor turn out from the LJ stand, mine(my wife had to work) Steve with his LJ78 and Paul with his LJ71 but we had a Dodge Raider (cool little rig, felt and looked a lot like a 7* series) HJ60, BJ(T)70, and a mini monster.
the day was beautiful, the group worked together well.

only damage was a broken birfield on the BJ(T)70 after he broke through the ice. we did about 40 km of basicly easy trail and about 4 km of frozen river running.

i had a lot of fun, Steve got a good idea of how capable his rig is...

next run is to clear some trees off the lost knife trail. i am hoping the weekend of the 12th... everyone is welcome to come along...

i got pics but the upoading will take a bit...

I finally got a couple pics of the run uploaded if anyone is interested...they aren't the greatest but its something!

So, we got out there and found at least a foot of fresh snow on the trails and perfect blue skies. Couldn't ask for a better day!

This is the only shot i got with all three LJs in it. Crusher's is the brown one in front, mine is the blue behind, and peeking out behind the Dodge Raider is an LJ71!

Shot from my drivers seat heading up a frozen creek. Pretty cool, haven't done that before. Ended up misjudging how slick it was and sliding into a log, pinching in the corner of my bumper. Who'd a thought, ice = slippery? ;p

This last shot was taken at the end of the day. We were driving back to the trailhead up the frozen river and Pascal ended up punching thru, and in the process of pulling him out, snapped a birfield. Not a fun way to end the day i suppose.

Anyway, it was a great time. This was my first real off road experience, and i learned a ton. It was a blast, I'll have to tag along more often! Gotta bring a passenger along next time so i have somone to take more pictures!

wayne if you organize another trip, and an 80 series and a 4runner were allowed i think id like to come and bring a friend.

tomorrow, trail clearing in wiperous
meeting at 7:30 at Rickys in the crowfoot center and leaving for the trail at 9.
we have 4 trucks now.
any model welcome
please fill up today and see you tomorrow morning

<hows that for quick??>
