so yesterday while wheeling my wife's LJ78 with the boys i was thinking it might be fun to get some LJ owners together for a run in the hills, nothing too serious maybe just a winter run back to the falls...

anyone else interested?

<BB, can we leave this here for a couple days and then move to international?>

the river should be well frozen over towards the end of December so either between christmas and new years or in January...

i would come

Hey guys,

I am up for it.

My last exam is on the 18th.

ALI.

okay, so we have 5 trucks so far...
Robin---LJ78
Ali------LJ78
RHD---LJ78 (i am sorry but i have forgotten your name)
Berni----LJ78
Me-----LJ78
Steve---LJ78

there might end up being some LJ71 boys from town as well...
if the river is frozen that is about the most fun you can have in a Cruiser, booting up a frozen river sliding around the bends and trying to climb 2 foot water falls of ice. bring your cameras, you will get some real memorable shots.

recommendations:
tow hooks or attachment points front and rear
a set of chains are a great equalizer.
a tow strap 20 ft minimum

other than your basic tool kit and spare tire you should be good to go...
for winter wheeling:
a complete change of clothes, in case you fall through the ice.
food for 2 days
blanket
warm winter gear and especially water resistant boots and gloves.

if anyone wants to we could make it into an over nighter at the falls. it is absolutely beautiful place to sleep. if we can make it up the hill at the end we can camp up at the ravine, very picturesque...

final recommendation:
you need to get along with others well, if this turns into a s*** show then we will need everyone to pull together to get all the trucks back home.
when we do a run it is expected that everyone get out and help, even if you have no idea what to do many hands can make the job go easy.

cheers and welcome to the first ever LJ only winter run.

Since I work Mon-Fri, I think Sat, Dec. 30 is pretty much the only day that would work for me...and I doubt I could swing an overnighter, though that does sound like fun. I've got some decent winter camping gear that I haven't used since my son was born...maybe next year!

sounds good to me during the holidays, I've got plans to be in the Fernie BC area around that time, but my undecided work schedule is still up in the air.

But if I'm in that area around that time I'll meet up with you guys.

I'll give a more definite answer towards the end of the week.

Date finalization ??

Hi,

looks like there is a family vacation planned for the same time period as the LJ run . If it is after Dec 2006, then i might be able to make it.

Keep us posted,
ALI.

thursday 28th of december...
how many are coming that have winches?
cheers

OF COURSE, this is to help those that seldom see off roading to realise how capable these units are even in stock condition.

a hook front and rear is IMPORTANT, the factory tow points are very adaquate.

tires with some tread would be nice but mudders are not mandatory (actually winter or All Season tread works best).

i will have a winch, i am just thinking we might be wise to have another or maybe even a couple...

bring food that can be cooked over an open fire, if we make it as far as the falls it is a nice area to eat lunch.

plan on sticking around for a bit afterwards since we will be going to Atlas for PIZZA after the run.

one thing though, don't make ANY plans on when you will be home, this is a winter run and could take a bit longer than planned... over night is a possiblity (slim but possible). we will not leave anyone in the bush, everyone will make it back to Calgary.

Drinking is left for AFTER the run and although it should have to be said, no joints while on the trail. it can become dangerous enough without adding drunk or "high" driving...

family run, bring the wife/girlfriend/significant other...

oh yah, meet for breaky at Ricky's in the NW (crowfoot center) at 7:30am. planning on being back by 6:30/7:00 but no guarantee...
