cut the front ones so that they would fit in the bottoms of the spring perch. Made the spacers so that they would fit over the old lip rings at the tops. Springs are tight in the spacers, might tack the spacers in place if that ever becomes an issue of slippage

Wow nice pics your truck looks tough as mate

Which Rancho shocks do you have in the front? Do you have a part number for those? They look like the 9000XL. I have a pair of 9000XL on the back of my Prado, and want to put some on the front. I have a 2" lift with Iron Man springs.

yeah there the adjustable Rancho, got the controller right in the cab.

Isn't as dramatic as I thought they would be

Wow, I am really impressed , very NICE, RHD

I am sure yours are different than what mine would take because of the taller lift you have, but do you happen to remember which part number it was on the front? Yours looks awesome by the way. Nice work.

I'll try and find it for you.

Today we finally rotated the diff so the pinion angle wasn't so extreme and dropped the Panhard bar and reinforced it.

Thanks guys its really fun in the bush, just have to work out all the little quirks

This Surf with the Prado front suspension w/coil buckets uses the front 80 series coils in the front with a slight mod to the buckets to keep the coils from popping out.

Rear 80 coils will fit into the rear of a surf but not a Prado without mods.

Pradocruzer and RHD are talking about using front 80 coils in the rear of a Prado.
Hi would it be to much to put the stronger Iron Man springs from a 80 series front in my lj 78 behind?

I think it would be really stiff. But it would give more payload ability. So depends on what you need.

Measure them up & check the difference in spring rate with a calculator like this: Suspension Spring Rate Calculator

Spring steels are usually similar enough that you can tell the stiffness by looking at the dimensions: bigger overall dia = softer, thicker wire = firmer, more coils = softer, shorter = firmer.

I found 80 series std REAR coils to be too soft in the back of my LJ71, but there were a few other mods to the suspension also.

Cheers
