I was looking at getting some wheel spacers for my LJ 78. Is it safe to run these things.
tire size is 31 inch i am adding the spacers just for the looks nothing else but some of my buddies told me that its not safe as the nuts(tire)gets loose after some time.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I would much rather be safe than sorry.

Depends on the spacers...
You can get adapters which bolt to the hub, then you bolt the wheel to them.

Rather than using a spacer plate between the hub and wheel.. and use the original bolts....doing this leaves less thread to hold on the wheel.
That style could come loose.
Also what does your local authority allow you to do on your vehicles??
You may not be allowed...;)

I'm going to go out on a limb and say his local authority in Pakistan will not care if he runs spacers.

An "astute observation" if there ever was one.:D

Its true some have a problem with loose nuts and broken studs.
If you want that "bulked out" look, get some wider rubber and fit some fibreglass flares over the wheel arches.

Just get some wheels with more negative offset = wider stance and forget about spacers- IMO spacers arent good...... seen lots break apart.

I second that motion:cheers:

Hi there, I've been running wheel spacers on my 75series for over 12 mths and haven't had any problems at all, after having my rear wheel fall off (prior to fitting spacers) I've learnt to regularly check the wheel nuts! They have never come lose on me, I run Seperior 1.5 inch spacers here in oz

Spacers or no spacers.....
At the end of the day, you need to regularly check yah nuts :wrench:
I check mine before and after a day out on the trails......:steer:
Had a guy who lost a wheel on a club trip.....
Lucky we were in the sand dunes and it just fell over into the soft sand.
We went for a walk back along his tracks and found 5 out of his six nuts....

Apparently, those spacers the OP posted up have a tendency to slide around, especially when mated with aluminum rims.

I use 5mm spacers on a 35" set of tyres and thats only to clear the brakes. Put correct torque on the wheel nuts and I doubt there's any sliding around.

yeah I had one of those on my truck when I first got it.
I was a bit confused why the other side didn't have one.

Some one was absent minded and left one off!!

Trying to guess what was going through a PO's mind will drive you nuts.
