As a matter of fact Barry from Proffitt's crew spotted me through there and that guy is hands down the best spotter and trail leader I've seen. I picked up a lot of good hand signals from him, fun to watch him drive too!

Here is one of Shots

He did brake in the camping ground. But he also cleared the Golden Crack with ease and elegance

Regards

CM05 a wonderful experience

CM05 was a last minute effort for me and well worth it. It started with the CM staff and Rising sun members putting down there favorite beverages and pushing me thru sign up and tech inspection in the dark so I could run the next day.

I ended up running Elephant Hill and Poison Spider not the hardest trails in Moab but some of the more scenic. The company and cool rigs made them perfect choices for me and my bling machine. Our trip leader Greg Lure made both runs effortless, informative, and without any issues or carnage for all. Poison Spider was a real treat with five 80’s line up back to back during most of the trail. I think it was all the 80’s present that possessed Cruiser Dan to drive his capable 80 thru the Weggie for the first time with ease.

Back at Slickrock I had the pleasure of spending some time with the NorCal guys at the DesertDude entertainment tent and yes Doug and Alvaro are bigger than life in more then one way. This is one group of great guys and I will proudly display my NorCal sticker on my junk – Thanks Alvaro.

Putting all the faces with the MUD members was interesting to say the least. Nobody looks like I thought they would and you are all younger than me. :flipoff2: I did totally enjoyed speaking with everyone face-to-face and look forward to doing it again. Another great group of people.

Slickrock campground sucks! The cotton is relentless and is still in everything. If it wasn’t for the people staying at Slickrock I would not of spent one night there. I support all efforts to relocate in the years to come.

All in all CM is an experience that should not be missed - ever. Nothing but smiling faces, handshakes, and lots of stories and laughter makes for an unforgettable time. Plus there is more Cruiser eye candy to satisfy any level of cruise enthusiast.

Thanks to everyone evolved for a wonderful experience and I look forward to next year.

I admit to being a complete rube here, but what is involved in "inspection?". I assume some safety and recovery equipment. Can someone point me to the "rules and regulations?", I am a TLCA member but have never investigated taking my garage queen on a wheeling trip.

What a great time!

My first exposure to CM, Moab trails, and sandstones...

What a terrific group of nice, hospitable and friendly guys! Thanks to all for a great time! Thanks in particular to Doug, Robbie and Casey for some great ridealongs! Thanks also to our hosts for a terrific job putting this all together!

I could not believe what these rigs were capable of in these experts hands! I would have been sure a few days ago that it was not even physically possible for a truck to go up some of those rocks and ledges! Came back with an even greater respect for the Cruiser, and a much better idea of what it'll take to make mine capable as well. Will need to practice a lot, though! And, man, the traction on this sandstone is unbelievable!

long way down...

this is following Chris Hatfield's pig and Casy Campbell's taco on CliffHanger...

not the pics to show to girlfriends/wives/moms when you're selling them on you attending next year's run.

Definite pinch factor looking out the window straight down!

Back from CM. Awsome event. Chevy waterpump replaced under warrantee. Defective part and nothing to do with my heavy foot. Really disappointed in putting my fan through the radiator 5 mins into Golden Spike run and could run the trail. 1st jackass move of event for me. New radiator fixed that problem (plus throwing the shroud away) and ran Behind the Rocks on Friday. Will post some video. Then ran Hells Revenge on Saturday and did jackass move no 2. See below. This is what happens when you back up to get the locker to engage before escalator and you do not watch where you are going.

Nice to see all the new and old faces again.

ed...it's really not much more than common maintenance inspection. you need to have working headlights, taillights and turn signals (this can be arm signals). service (foot) brakes must work well enough to stall the vehicle in second gear and parking brake must stall vehicle in third gear (if you have an auto, 1200 rpms). no excessive leaks. battery must be secure, you need a coolant recovery tank and current insurance. good tire tread and must have fullsize spare, fire ext, first aid kit, jack and straps. no whip antennas unless they are tied down. not much more than that...as many vehicles as i ran through cruise moab, i think that's all that was on the list...damn am i tired!

Back at home.. man what a whirlwind of a week, just a blend of memories of good friends, great wheeling, some beer, lots of laughs. Just going through some of my pictures now, will post up the highlights. After this year the CM committee is a little more motivated to investigate alternative sites for the camping/hq... to get out of the cotton.

First pic is a camp site.. if you look hard you can see CruiserDan! Next is Rzeppa cleaning the first big obstacle shelf road on the way out of Kane Creek, followed by Ashley, one of the newlyweds, getting crossed up and a little direct coaching from Robbie.

I'm new at mud so I don't know if the photos from Nakman's post under Treeroot's login will be quoted in this post.

First of all, another wonderful Cruise Moab, thank you to everyone who came out and helped make our annual event what it has become. Thank you Woody for facilitating this thread on your site! It was way cool reading this thread and watching as these photos and videos were uploaded and then seeing them in real time right there in camp. We had a great time, and can't wait 'til next year!

Second, we (Rising Sun Cruise Moab Committee) have investigated alternative venues every year for many years. The cottonwood blossoms are a nuisance, but the trees were planted there for a reason, namely to keep the blistering sun at bay when it's blazing hot, as it has been some years. And during afternoon downpours they also reduce the amount coming down under them. The biggest issue is the facility itself, it's maintenance and comfort. I am sure as we do our post-game analysis within the committee will discuss this at length. Again. I heard a lot of comments and suggestions from registrants that had nothing to do with cottonwood blossoms, but did suggest we find an alternative venue for our headquarters.

Third, the photo in the post I am replying to shows a person on the outside of a vehicle in an attempt to get some weight onto a wheel to gain traction. I was standing next to the photographer, and commented that I hoped the wiper blade he was holding on to didn't give way. It didn't, the vehicle made it through and all was good. Yesterday, another person was using a similar technique in an attempt to help another vehicle stay balanced, slipped off and hurt himself.

For many years we have been lucky at Cruise Moab that no one has been seriously injured. The lesson from this for all off road events, is to stay away from vehicles that are being operated. If someone needs help, help at a distance with a strap, not holding on to the vehicle itself. GSMTR is coming up in a couple weeks, and the rest of the TLCA event calendar will be over the coming months. We want everyone to have fun and be safe.

Happy cruisin'!
