I know, i know..it's a heep. Anyways, we will use it for day trips so we built it for mild stuff in the mtns and local desert exploring. Nothing wild.. but maybe you guys will appreciate the quick 48 hour turn around.

I didn't get to choose the rims or tires. They may not even stay. They're on loan from a magazine company with option to buy. I can't stand them personally cause they're way too tall... 17" .. so they appear way to bling'd out. But heck.. for right now they're free.. so i don't care if they're purple! LOL!

Alan, you have a good memory... yep that's Dave with the Diesel.

Ray, lol.. yep lifting the TJ was cakewalk... heck , it was like working on a go cart instead of a 7,000 lbs bus!

I am not one who usually likes chrome wheels but I think they look good. Nice job on the rig, I think you picked out a good balance of parts. Sliders and lockers should be next, no?

Thanks man, Yeah, have a set already.. just waiting for some laser cutting to be done. No lockers. She isn't going to get crazy with this rig. No axle upgrades planned either.. hence the 32" tires. For now we're keeping it simple. Down the road, yeah coil overs, tube fenders, stretched, dynatrac 60's and 40" MTR's

Dave at least you are in touch with your disease. I hate people who live in denial. In my opinion I do think you need to be hardcore to have lockers. They help you take lines and stay on you lines to avoided body damage. They also translate less stress to the drivelines vs. and open differential. You can crawl over obstacles vs. standing on the skinny pedal. Just something to think about, I would not rule them out because she may not be tackling hard trails.

I hear you.

But IMHO i recommend all 4 wheelers to learn their vehicle for a couple years Open before doing anything. It increases your driving skill and makes you work the wheel a bit further to get through the same obstacle a locked rig would walk through. Generally, run mild sized tires , learn what the rig is capable of, then go with a rear locker, then a front. In that order. By the time you're locked front and rear and sitting on bigger meats you'll be a much more skilled driver than you'd ever have been with going locked out of the box. IMHO, people that go straight to big tire and lockers get into trouble a heck of lot faster than ones who haven't. Lockers can get you into trouble real fast, and if you don't know how to react you will be in danger to yourself and the ones around you. I see this with FJcruisers all the time. People new to the sport, getting into situations they aren't ready for.

I dont know, i started off with 31's, open, to 33's, rear locked. To front locked, to 35's. 40's, more lift, on and on. I think if you progress slowly with the same vehicle, you will gain experience that is valuable to learning how to drive great on the trail. Just my $0.02.

I bet in a year or so this thing will be expedition ready with multiple jerry cans and a tent and.....

Does she have any vibes with the 2.5" lift? Some folks say yes, some say no, hopefully she is all good, cause the SYE and CV shaft get expensive quick!

Done a few SYE kits myself. No biggie. Yep, driveshafts get spendy real quick if you want HD shafts. The TJ's are reported to have no vibes up to 4". Some get lucky, some not so much. She's getting no vibes at 2.5".

Very nice. What lift did you put on it?

Skycracker. Cheapest budget boost i can find. All the plastic is the same and the shocks aren't high quality enough to matter to me. The skyjacker was the only budget boost on the market that nets 2" instead of 1.75".

I like that setup for her but having owned a built TJ before and seeing their capabilities, I would have a hard time not going all out. But with your mod disease I am sure that is all in the works as you said.... keep the pics coming!
