I have to say that I agree the "D" light and cruise lights are too bright IMHO. I am debating even trying the slap, I kinda like it not on...

Yup, I don't really care if mine ever comes back on. It'll still tell you if you're in anything other than D, and you always have the shifter indicator on the center console.

Just lost mine at 130,000 miles. Hit the dash....no love. Will try again in a couple weeks.

Anybody know what lightbulb is used for this? I'm thinking that if I'm going to go in there and replace the "D" light, I might as well change all the bulbs to LED's and and maybe save myself future brain-damage. Any thought?

How you get the speedo cluster out?It only comes out a little bit and then you have to disconect all electrical plugs in the back. There is so little room I couldn't fit my hand behind to diconect them. What is the trick?I searched Slee's web site for dashboard removal but couldn't find anything.Slapping the dashboard didn't work for me.I have both "D" and "P" out.

I got out my pimp hand and voila my D indicator now works.

Just scare the light back into it.

Some electronics guru needs to get us hooked up with LED upgrades for the dash lights. Indicator and cruise should be variable with the dash-light rheostat.

I also have the D light out and have noticed that the light for my center diff lock no longer works. Maybe I should tear into it soon. Does anyone know if the button for the center diff lock actually lights up at night, is there a bulb behind that button?

center diff will give you two lights: the diff locked and the VSC disabled light. both are orange.

How do I know if I have VSC and If I do should it light up all the time? I would imagine its on there it appears that the PO got all of the upgrades when he ordered it. How hard is it to change these bulbs myself?

VSC light should come on when you turn the truck on, and then go out. If VSC TRAC light is on (most likely accompanied by VSC OFF) then you have an issue with the system.

Bwhahahaaa - thought it was a joke, and like an idiot gave 6 or seven hard raps and it worked. :))

Strike the top of the dashboard hard with your open palm, directly above the instrument cluster. If that doesn't do it, try, try again. If it still doesn't light up, wait a day or so and try one more time.
This technique works for 90 percent of us. It was invented by Junk, so give him props.

The other 10 percent have to search this site or Slee's web site for dashboard removal instructions and replace the little lamp -- I think C-Dan has posted the part number at some point in history. Whileyou're in there, you might as well replace or at least re-seat all of the bulbs, since they are all subject to the same wear and vibration.

HAHAHA

I used to have RAV4 97 and it`s dash light went out. I banged it couple times and it still worked for years. My 18 yo nephew still drives it in harsh Alaska, and the car is 3 years older than him.
