Hey folks,

I have a J200 / 2014 LX570 that I've purchased from a friend, and the light bar and roof rack is mounted in the following position. The cable that powers the light bar is also externally routed along the driver-side windshield and had used some type of black adhesive that is not holding it place anymore. I have two questions:

1) Is there a better way to route the light bar wiring harness without drilling holes anywhere so that it's not so exposed to the elements?
2) If there is only a drilling solution to keep it tidy, as a mounting replacement, would strong 3m double sided tape + clips tucked towards the side of the windshield be a better alternative to holding the harness in place?
3) What would you suggest is a better way to mount the light bar? The flap basically keeps the LEDs from rotting away in the sun and doesn't affect the amount of light it throws that makes any massive difference; just looks funny IMO.

Open to your suggestions!

Thank you

Something like this can be used to hide the wires going down the side of the windshield. Probably won’t be visible from inside as it runs against the black edge. There are more expensive options by name brand companies but save some money and go generic for a piece of folded rubber with 3m tape.

that routing is a good one, but you’ve got to be careful to use a gauge wire that can fit fully under the trim.

The trim can be removed with care of the clips beneath it, and reused if you don’t bend the trim. Otherwise it can be bought new to replace if damaged.

I think there are some pics on my build thread, I’ll go see if I can link back to those

I used the KC hilites wire hider. works great. I'm sure there are generic Amazon alternatives that will work as well.

This is what I used. You can have wires hidden in the oem channel plus more wires hidden in this rubber piece

My setup is similar. RTV Black applied to black plastic 3/8” wire loom which the wires are inside and it’s stayed stuck inside that channel for years (but mine is running the passengers side). In your case it looks like the wires have a protective plastic wrap but aren’t in a loom.
