Finally managed to get my twundy lifted. Had the 2" OME kit fitted, with 295/70/17R TG's and TRD rims.

The ride in the rear is ultra stiff as I had the 440lbs (723) springs put on. I think I'm gonna downsize to the 722 medium springs. Also, the rake is a little excessive, so will have coil spacers put on the front. Anyone know whats the maximum number of spacers I can put?

Sorting the KDSS was a b*tch, and its certainly not as simple as they make it out to be. The truck leans just shy of 1cm on the right. I've tried every trick in the book to get it to settle and be even. We lifted the truck, opened the the valves, lowered the truck, and let it sit for an hour just to get it to stabilise and then re tighten, but no dice. The only way to get it to be even is to open and get some guys to stand on the left side of the truck to even it out, and then re tighen, but a few days of driving, and its back to 1cm lower on the right. We called ARB and they told us its as simple as opening the valves, leaving the truck untouched for 15-30mins, and then re tighten...:confused:Can anyone help?

There is tons of info on KDSS, but you have pretty much described everything you can do shy of taking it to the dealer. I'm sure that if everyone who has done this lift measures, we will all be off by something. 1 cm isn't bad compared to my 1". Could tire pressures be off on 1 side?

Where are you located...middle east? I would hate to have those running boards. I smashed mine up in a couple of months of ownership, fortunately they were easily removable. Those you have look similar to the LX, all integrated.

As far as spacers go, you may only be able to put one, maybe two on either side. If you want, try two on the side that lean and 1 on the other. That way you level it out. All LCs have a lean and that is why they make the trim packers.

If you are going to load up the rig at all, I would think of keeping the heavy springs in and living with the rake and stiffness, but if this is a daily driver you will want to do the swap. Maybe keep the heavy springs for later. Part of me regrets taking mine out. I loaded up with about 400 lbs the other day (in the back), and man, I was sitting lower. Last time I loaded that much I had the heavy springs in, and it didn't sag 1mm.

Nice looking rig, I love the rims. Thanks for sharing some pics.

By the way...do you have any rub with the 295s? If you are feeling photographic, could you please turn the steering wheel full to the right and take some pics of the 295s close to the driver's side swaybar? I heard there could be rubbing issues with that width of a tire. It would be nice to have some pics to see how close it gets.

Thanks again, and great looking truck.

Hey Chimyz...thanks for the kind comments.:)

Well spotted, I'm based in Saudi Arabia, and those running boards are unfortunately the only ones they sell here on all the 09 models. I hate them. I went to the dealer to try to get them without the side steps, but they said they may have to special order them from Japan as a spare part. I'm working on it though! Worse case scenario I might have a friend in San Fransisco pop down to his local dealer, and buy them for me and ship them.

As for the KDSS, I've got a question: when you unscrew the valves, do you take the screws out completely? Or just turn them anti-clockwise 3 rotations?

The rig is my daily driver, so its a little too harsh for what I need, and since I dont do any towing, I might just do as you said, and get the 722's while keeping the 723's for future use.

My next mod is the TJM front bullbar, which is currently sitting in my garage. I'm just waiting for the 240 lights to arrive and then have them all installed at once.

I'll try to answer your question tomorrow morning regarding the 295's rubbing, pics included.

Cheers!!

Nice! I like those TRD rims!

The 295/70R17 is a D rated tire, not E like many other TG's. Keep that in mind if you are planning to load her up.

Also, which shocks did you use. You cannot just swap standard springs with constant load springs -- they are different shocks as well. The 722 springs use the N209 shock while the 440-constants (723) use an N210 shock. Just an FYI!

I keep meaning to check my KDSS valves to make sure the shop closed them. I don't want to have the problem Mitch had. I wonder how it would feel if they were open. Like is it definitely apparent or very subtle?

Boozewz...just turn them 3 full turns open, and no more. If you unscrew them completely and take them out, it would open up the hydraulic system and leak. It would need to be bleed again.

Lookin forward to the pics, I'm sure alot of people on here would be interested to see the clearance that is available.

As a side note, you have "booze" in your name...isn't that kind of a bad thing in Saudi Arabia?

Hey JB...thanks for the comments, and for the advise re the shocks too.

Check out the clearance pics at full lock turns. I dont have any rubbing issues except on the front fender wells, (on both right and left turns), but only during reversing. This issue will be taken care of once the bullbar comes on, because the front "mudflaps" will be cut. There is no other rubbing evident.

dirtdoc is running the same set up, and he told me he had no rubbing issues at all.....in fact I practically copied his set up...but being out here in the sandbox, I didnt think he'd mind as it would be highly unlikely we'd bump into each other:p

As for my name booze, its actually my nickame, and it doesnt have the same (or anywhere or the same) meaning in arabic as in english....yes, alcoholic is illegal, but like any other contraband in the world today, it can be found if you know the right guy and you're willing to pay an arm and a leg...(literally and not figuratively, contrary to what some people may think:lol:)

Thanks for posting up the pics...I knew it would be close to the sway bar, just glad that tire didn't touch. As far as the front goes, at least it's only plastic that can easily be cut. In your case though, it will be resolved when you get the TJM on.

Not sure about the pic posting problem? Could it be the number of posts you have submitted? Maybe they won't allow it because you only have 7 posts? There could be some magic number you need to hit before you can post more pics, or I could be making this up?

Welcome....

Dang that is close....it would scare me ....but I am a wuss.
