Lift kit BJ46?

Hi All:

Is that your BJ46 in your avatar photo? If so, there is a good chance that regular FJ40 lift kit for the same year would fit.

Buuuut, :D there is always the potential for the rig to have some 45 Series suspension parts on it. We are unfamiliar with the 46 Series here in North America.

So, I think you may have to do some mixing and matching of suspension bits to make it work. The only way to know is to plunge into the project. Or, of course, pay someone else to figure it out! :D

Not really that big of a deal, more time consuming than anything.

Good luck!

Alan

Does anyone know a lift kit that is compatible with a BJ46?

yup that is it...

I actually went to Cool Cruisers and they brought out the HFS Springs for both the FJ40 and FJ60... The FJ60 front ones appear to be on the money, however both the 40 & 60 were about a foot short for the rear spring...

I appreciate the feedback.

The 44, 43, and 46 all have longer rear leafs. FJ40 rear leafs will NOT work. Check out the company ALCAN, they do custom work. There is another 44 on MUD that had the 4" lift done by them.

Hi All:

Also, talk with Kurt at Cruiser Outfitters, he could probably help you order a mix n' match set of OME springs and shocks to suit your rig.

Alan

^^THIS.

Kurt will know what you need. Also, OME is simply awesome, IMHO. Makes a cruiser ride like a caddy...

60 springs are wider IIR and I believe the 45 springs are a match or a close match except the 45 spring will probably be on the heavyside if you are looking for med to soft ride.

I found some tires online; I like the way 33x9.5 look. Does your rig have any lift at all?

Goal is medium...

Hi All:

No worries, if the only rear springs you can get are "heavy load" rated, you can reduce the load capacity by removing some of the leaves from the spring pack.

Remember, few things on an old, odd rig like this will be "plug n' play." ;)

Alan

No lift on mine
I have thought about it several times though ,I would like to see what 35s would look like but would need a 4" or a SOA

Cool throw up some pics when you install them

I'm the guy with the 4" lift from alcan. I went with alcan because a 4" was hard to find in kit form.

You essentially have the 81 and later springs all around, but the fronts are the standard and the rears are 45/47 springs dimensionally. if you are looking for a 2.5 inch lift, go with the Old Man Emu. Kurt can help you out tith that kit. If you want higher, you can call alcan and get the same springs I did.

Got to agree with the above unless you are going SOA and that, IMO, is not a bad route to go.

My BJ44 (same a 46 with less conforts) has a SOA with a mixed-matched leaf set. Works great, but I can't think of one company other Zeal or maybe Keep-Slant that might have a kit for the rear of a 44,46. End run, a special order from Alcan would be a big savings over a Zeal or Keep-Slant kit from Japan.

Shackle angle would be bad with any substantial lift... Ride would really suffer.

You could always through on a set of L shackles to compensate for the shorter spring if you re-arch them for a higher lift not sure how well the L shacle performs.

The other day I had 6 bags of cement in the back and noticed how nice she rode on a bumpy section of the tar mac.
