Thank you for the information nabbasi! By going with the Bilsteins, did you piece the “kit” together yourself? Or were you able to find a vendor to sell you the springs and shocks as a kit? Also, would you mind please posting a picture of your truck? Thanks!

I pieced everything together. As mentioned, I've come back to edit this post to provide details on what I purchased. These were purchased and installed last year, so not sure what prices are now, but this includes tax/ shipping/ etc. In researching this, you can get this stuff from many, many different places.

Shocks from shock warehouse (I’ve used them for many years across many vehicles)

2x 33-062518 Bilstein 5125
2x KYB 343403 Rear Excel-G Shock Absorber Toyota T100

Springs directly from Skyjacker

2x L20FS Front springs
2x L20RS Rear springs
3x SE40L bushing kit

Greasable shackle/ pin kit and ubolts from cruiser outfitters/ cruiserteq

1x SUSSHSPKIT40G shackle and pin kit
1x UBOLTKIT40AFTE u bolt kit

I think that was everything.

Thanks for typing this out. Greatly appreciated. In your previous post you said you went with the KYB in the rear because you'd be running mostly with a soft top. From my research, If one were to mimic your purchase, but use Bilstein for all four shocks, all four shocks would be the same

33-185606 B8 5125

Can anyone confirm? Thanks!

It depends on what year your Land Cruiser is.

I’m not 100% on the cutoff, but up until 1973 use 4 equal length shocks. The 1974+ would use a longer rear shock, 33-185606. This shock would be used for the front if you were doing a 4” lift. And an even longer shock would be used for the rear, 33-185552 according to bilstein.

Edit: Cityracer takes the guess work out

I’ll clean up the post tonight if I get some time at my computer and breakdown what I paid for everything and organize it.

While I’m happy with what I did, I spent too much time researching. I would have just gone with redline’s kit if it were available at the time, and I also would have purchased the procomp springs if they had been available.

I was also really interested in a Dobinson IMS setup based on reviews, but decided against it from a few comments when things did go wrong from 100 series guys (service/ support). It also seemed like overkill.

The terrain tamer parabolic springs weren’t yet on the market, but initial reviews are very good.

Skyjacker is currently selling a kit for about $1200 that includes “Black Max Hydro Shock.” Does anyone have any experience with these shocks? Below is a quote I copied from the gas vs. hydraulic thread, from @jim land

I hope I’m not muddying the water with the gas vs. hydro debate.

It seems like outside of the Dobinsons IMS, the Bilstein 5125’s are the crowd favorites.

I will add that I will mostly (probably 99% of the time) be using my truck for on-road driving, but I’d still like to maintain the option for off roading.

“Skyjacker black max shocks is hydro and suppose to ride softer than gas”

I bought the sj hydro shocks w/the 4" kit. I think they called them something else. Iir, the shocks came with the stickers separately. I think they're just an average shock. I pretty sure they are a private label for sj. I haven't run gas or bilsteins. From what Ive heard the bilstiens will likely offer a better ride. I see you're in Columbus, if it ever warms up, you're welcome to come down to east side of Cincinnati and ride or possibly drive my 40 with 4" skyjackers and 33's.
