I am considering purchasing a new 4Runner Trail, which comes with toyotas "lifetime warranty". Does anyone know if the warranty is voided if I lift this vehicle after purchasing? Thanks for the help!

U should be fine. Depends on the aftermarket company offering the warranty. It is not a factory lifetime warranty. It usually is detailed in the fine print.

Ask for sure. Some dealerships in ATL are actually lifting them in the dealership and extending the warranty to the lift as well.

You have to be really careful with that. That individual dealership may warranty it through the lift supplier but you can't get it done at any other dealer. Toyota will certainly not warranty an aftermarket product.

As I understand it, the "lifetime warranty" only applies to the powertrain, which is engine and transmission. Lifting the vehicle would affect neither of these and therefore the dealership or company providing the warranty could not legally void the entire thing, just because it was lifted.

The Magnuson-Moss act is a federal law that prohibits businesses from doing just that. For instance, if I installed an intake and suddenly the a/c stopped working, they legally cant deny my warranty claim for the a/c because the aftermarket part had nothing to do with the failure.

Thanks guys. This is what I was hoping to hear.
