How many miles are you guys getting out of the BFG AT's? I know I'll get at least 60k out the Michellens but I like the look and functionality of the BFG better. However, I don't want to spend more on tire's and then have to replace them every 30k.

BTW, local Costco priced them out for me @ $781 installed. :)
 
781???? down here i got a quote for 954$ installed. my freinds got them, hes running on 40K and probably as 30% left. (city boy)
 
Was that from costco? You need to buy when they have the $60 or $80 off a set of 4.

That was over the boarder in ID where the sales tax is 4% lower as well.

The speed rating don't match so you can't get them to pop up on the website but if you call them directly with the size you need they can take care of you.

Discount quoted me over $900.

Don't know about your Costco, but ours won't let you get larger tires than what Toyota put on so if you want to upsize, might be a hiccup in your plans.
 
I didnt tell them I had a landcruiser. I just asked them what the cost of 285/75/ r16's mounted, and balanced. It came out to 954$. I cant remember the cost per tire. but I could see costco enforcing that policy... keeps them out of any possible issue with a customer complaining about a diff or something else going bad due to too large of tires. maybe they will do it under "certain" circumstances, such as if you already have them, or have a larger tire on and are downsizing..... maybe. im just rambling, ill stop now


oh yea, to add some info on the question. i know wheeling takes quite a bit of life span off. Nitto's look like they would be a all around good tire. but Im for the BFG's (when I get some)

look into pro comp. dont know much about them but there warranty looks pretty sweet.
 
Hmm, I've had conflicting answers from Costco on the upsizing policy. I've had one Costco tell me they could not do it, but I had another actually put a larger tire on my old Taco and they just had me sign a paper saying I realized that my odo would be off a little bit.

That price was for the stock size and not for the 285's. I'm thinking I'm gonna stick with the stock size personally. I don't off road too much personally so I think sticking with the 275's will help keep the sound down while still giving me superior traction.
 
Costco wouldnt let me go bigger, and they wouldnt put tires on my aftermarket Wheels. So I got them for dirt cheap and had my shop install them. Just make friends with one of the guys at Costco and they'll hook it up.
 
Costco WILL let you put on larger tires, but you sign a waiver releasing them of liability, etc. I just did this on my 100 last year with 285 BFGs. I too got them on their $60 off deal. I've had numerous sets of BFGs on various trucks and average about 50k on them.
 
Every Costco is different. There is corporate policy, but each store has been given the right to do what they need to do. I think they call it manager's discretion. For awhile corporate wouldn't let them do anything other than stock, but they relaxed that some after tire sales went in the toilet for them in some markets. The Boise store will only go 5% larger. The store in Twin Falls will do anything (they even stock 315/75/16 MTs which weren't stock on anything). And at both of the ID stores I'm talking about neither make you sign anything.
 
hey do you guys trust them to do a good job balancing the tires? i thought with larger sizes it becomes more difficult do they do road force balancing? i think that way is suppose to be better then the machine?? any opinions?
 
In my opinion it is worth paying a little to find a shop with a road force balance machine. My local Discount has one and I've been very pleased with the results.

A major advantage to the Roadforce machines is that they will detect tire defects that a regular machine will not notice.
 
I did mine(well my friend did) roadforced, balance has been pretty good for the past 9 months. I may rebalance them next just to check everything before heading to the mountains.

Pro Comps have a horrible reputation, run fast and stay far away from them.
 
I have 70k on my BFG AT's on my 80 there is still plenty of tread left, love them accept in the mud. They do have a lot of freeway miles and I just 8 plys at 45psi on the highway (feels better in the corners). I wish I could get 255 85's in AT's I would buy them in a second.

i take start running to the BF Goodwich store? i was always unsure about pro comps. they look good. but so do alot of things that suck
