Test fitting my dummy piece for the alternator/power steering bracket. I made some changes and I cant wait to cut the finalized pieces.

You do amazing work! I look forward to seeing more updates!

Thank You Sir!

I did get a little bit of work done on my cantilevers. I got everything tacked together. I made a mistake though. When I designed these I forgot to make the pieces to box in the top and bottom. Now I need to make the box in pieces before I can do the final welding.

I would have gotten more done but I had family in town for my sons first birthday party.

I got a chance to build part of my tubing bender stand. I am gonna cut the top plate and spacers tomorrow night.

I want to get the new bender working soon. I am gonna raise the rear fenders up a couple inches to allow more up travel. Once I do that than I can bend the rest of my cage/chassis and bolt the rear springs in.

Great build, looking forward to the progress. I wish I had access to all that tooling.

Thank You! I can tell you I havent always been this spoiled. I love every tool and feel blessed every single time I go in the garage. I have spent most of my life in the gravel on my back with rain soaked clothes and minimal hand tools building rigs. I have came a long way over the past 4 years with a $200 investment and a dream.

I got my bender stand mostly completed tonight. I bent a piece of tube, and I also finished my LS series alternator/power steering bracket. I am very pleased how it turned out. I have pulleys showing up this week.

I have 5 bumpers on the floor to finish this weekend and then I hope to work on raising the floor in my Cruiser.

UPDATE!??:D

Sorry I havent been able to touch it. I have been working around the clock plowing snow, and sanding for my full time job. I barely have had time to box and ship orders. I have had a steady stream of bumper builds also. I hope to work on my own rig soon.

Character building.

You are close to separating from the 9 to 5 grind and merging full time to your dream job.

Dont need to tell you to keep it up, looks like you have plenty of fire in your belly lol.

That is true. I think everyone needs to do it the hard way to appreciate tooling. You get pretty creative without anything to work with. I will keep pecking away.

I havent done much on my own rigs. I did work on the LS brackets. I got some idlers and machined the inserts. I am very happy with how nice the mounts turned out. I tucked everything in nice and tight, and made it to where the belt wraps almost 3/4 the way around the accessories that are very important. I spent 8 hours last night finalizing my drawings for building my front and rear axle housings. I am planning to cut part of my floor out this week so I can finish my chassis.

I did get out and do a little expedition trip in northern California. We went through Christmas break. We spent between 5-8 hours a day on trails and saw hundreds of deer, wild horses and a ton of other wildlife. Dont Hate me for the Heep.

Well. I just found this thread & I'm in awe. Definately hanging to see this done.

Thank You!

I spent the day designing a few more pieces. I am gonna make a set of motor mounts that mount off the back of the heads to work with my other motor mounts. I figured 4 points with bushings will take some of the load off the trans. I am also making a tensioner setup that will have a special climber gear to adjust tension for my serpentine belt. The bracket I am working on will have 3 adjustments that will lock with a bolt and then the climber gear. This will allow a ton of different belt options. If I am ever in a small town and need a belt I wont be limited.

Think it's awesome your 'shop chair' has a better rolling base than the bender (in that pic)
:)

Amazing fab skills - would love to see some of your other work.

Got a link to that stuff - nevermind I found it...damn search function thingy!

Thats funny! It does look that way. There is really over a 2ft difference though.

I love your story and your grit. Keep up the life changing dude :grinpimp:

Sorry I havent been on in a while guys. I have been very busy, and fighting some illnesses. I did have a chance to go enjoy the Hammers. I was lucky enough to be involved in a stock class car for Rusty Nail Racing. Since home I attended Mud Fest. I finished up a ton of projects and now I am getting busy on my 40 .

I got the rear head mounts finished so I will have 4 points holding the engine. The main motor mounts will support the engine. The head mounts are extra support to take pressure off the bellhousing and make transmission swaps easier.

I pulled the mounts off so they could go on to the rear of the engine. Then bolted up the power steering/alternator bracket and the motor mounts.

My little guy crawled through our doggy door and went out to sneak some work on his own and I caught him. Since he wanted to be out there we spent a couple hours making a mess of all my tools.

I pulled the cage out for the last time. I am gonna raise the floor up in the rear to allow 7" of up travel front and rear. It will also give me a little more room for the cantilevers, dual rear low mount batteries, and rear fuel cell I will build. I am trying to mount as much weight as I can back behind the rear axle for better weight distribution.Everything will be under the floor to keep it away from my son. I decided the rear tailgate will be a pull out drawer with my tools and recovery gear.
