Similar but a better progressive rate and should not break down. Daystars are nice but they work nothing like an air bump. These are designed to work like an air bumps progression. And the way the material is made is nothing like a poly or foam bump it is actually 20 times more durable than poly. I should have video footage of these in action soon.

These will mount with one bolt through the center and can be mounted on the end of a piece of tube to be used in a bump can. I will make a mount so they can be bolted into the stock location on landcruisers also. The price point will be nice as well

Great thread, can't wait to see it progress further.

I'm not new to wheeling but on my 1st FJ, love the work you've done so far!

MOAR!!!

You should offer that frame in kit form.

I believe I bought my dakota spring kit from you, great stuff.

Thanks for all the kind words guys.

I cant wait to get the videos back from testing. I have high hopes for the bump stops.

I hope you are liking the dakota springs. I love mine. I found that 98-04 2wd std cab came with a 5 leaf. They are hard to find but work amazing on our rigs. I will do a little tech session on the ones I am putting together for my FJ.

We may work on a frame kit down the road. For now we have to finish all the other projects we have been working on.

I got some work done on my own junk today!

I will get the cantilevers all tig welded up this weekend I hope. I have some customer projects to get done then I will work on mine if I get a chance.

Thanks for following my build. I wish I could work on it more but I am in no hurry.

I finally bought some more tubing so I can do a little cage work, then I sold my bender. I had a bender and no tubing, now I have tubing and no bender. My tubing bender worked great for years. It was one I designed and loved. I have been getting to a point with my projects where I needed something faster and that would be easier to repeat bends.

Today I received 5 super heavy boxes!

Now tomorrow I get to start building a stand to hold my new toy.

your craftsmanship makes me feel lazy about stuff that I do vs what I buy ..

 I was thinking the same thing.

RockTactics, why did you decide to build your own shocks instead of just buying some? Do yours have an advantage of some sort?

There really isnt an advantage other than I want the experience of designing and building as much as I can by myself. It takes a lot longer doing it how I am doing it but in the end its about the education and being able to say I did it. I never went to college and I was told you always pay for education. Well saving for tools, designing my own tools and getting my hands dirty is my education. I want to build off road rigs and parts for a living. The more you do the better you are on future projects.

I dont have a huge budget so taking time to research, and design my own stuff gives me time to save also. Building my own housings cost more than buying them. I can build jigs, and build each piece in stages instead of at once. In the end I will have the tools, and knowledge to make them for customers in the future. Tools is everything.

There is always a better ways to do anything.

I like and appreciate your way of thinking. In my opinion, the best education is a hands on education.

I don't post very often, especially something of a technical nature. I mostly read and soak in stuff hoping I can further my "education". I know nothing about machining, and am no better than a mediocre welder. But, I spent my whole work life working with wood and plastic laminates, mostly in a cabinet shop and installing cabinets and countertops. I fully understand your position and feelings.

Thank you for your addition to the technical aspect of this site.

Thank You! I am reading about tig welding now. I try and soak up info from as many sources as possible and then hands on to try and perfect what works for me. I still havent perfected any welding. I just get by :)

I do road maintenance by day and fab parts in my spare time for fun and to try and build a business so my kid will have a job some day. I am gonna pass on what my dad did with me. I already got a 45 cab I am gonna use to build his first rig with him.
