Got my key card yesterday and of course dead as well. Now wait for battery.

You can buy these at batteries plus or similar battery store. I have gotten them there before. I got mine on my new ‘19 yesterday. I love the credit card key. Women don’t care bc they use pocketbooks. For a guy, it’s so nice. I don’t even carry a wallet, just my credit card. So it’s nice to be able to just put this key in my back pocket.

May have to look up one of those stores. Got couple from amazon and looks like both are dead. Key card is not responding when programming (touching push button during programming). Frustrating

What year is your Cruiser and what card did you get? The wrong card won't detect. Do you have a battery tester?

Per suggestion in post #26 here I got the model 14CBB. Trying to program for 20 LC. Could it be that only the latest Techstream can program it? Using v13.0. I can run the setup, it detects original key in programming but not the key card.

Not sure if the 20 has the same fob as 16-19 years (assume it does). Maybe someone else can confirm

Just got the Techstream v14 which detects 2020 LC and still the same problem. Key Card is not programming (purchased new).

When I had the wrong card, tech stream didn’t recognize it at att. Correct card was picked up instantly. I checked my regular parts sites and they didn’t have 2020 parts listed at all. Sure sounds like wrong card.

Quick update. Couldn't get model 14CBB (part 89904-53512) to work for the 20LC. Tried on my techstream and as well local locksmith tried with his system. Ran into bad batteries initially which thought may have been a problem but confirmed the last set was good.
I assume this part number doesn't work for 2020 or got some bad or locked card (it was sealed from Toyota).

Sorry man, that's frustrating for sure. FWIW, the credit card key is not all it's cracked up to be for every day use. You have to manually lock the doors every time which is a pain if you are at the tailgate, or waiting on your family to get out, etc.

Why is it a pain at the tailgate? You can just hit the tailgate's lock button... The only thing I miss is if I forget where I parked, which has happened a couple times after multiple work trips to the airport--remembering where I parked starts mixing together). Having a fob to locate the car can be helpful.

Lol. I didn’t know the tailgate had a lock button. I’ve only had the truck a few days and my other LCs didn’t have that feature.

Has anyone noticed whether the connection between the card and the LC is more finicky than with the fob? Sometimes when I press a lock or unlock button it doesn’t work immediately or I have to use a different door button.

It was that way on my 11. On my 16 it is excellent, just as good as the regular fob.

bamma, on your 11, did you have any lock actuator issues? I'm trying to determine whether I have a driver door actuator issue or if the card/LC connection is weak. I know that interference from various things can affect the remote connection. The delay in lock response happens with the original fob occasionally but more often with the card.

My key card arrived today. It literally took longer to watch the video (thanks to Tadem for the link) than it did to register the card using Techstream. FWIW I used version 12.20.024 of Techstream in a vbox on a MacBook Pro with no issues.

This is a great mod -- with the room saved by not having to carry around that fob, I'll get an extra slice of pumpkin pie next week!

Thanks to Bamma for sorting this out.

If anyone gets it working on 20LC, please let me know. Definitely works up to 19LC, but I failed getting it to work on 20LC. Eric is looking into it as well per our exchange.

It should be the same as the 2020 Lexus. I’d go to your local Lexus dealer and see if they can get u the number. You might have to ante up and pay their price but if you mention the online price for an 18 or 19 card they might have some latitude to work with you.

All bets are off if it’s a Penske dealership. But I digress.
