Might be safer in a tent with metal poles than a plywood camper :hmm:
I really dunno. The inTech OVR Expedition is 100% aluminum, frame, chassis, and even the roof. The only plywood that we know of is the interior paneling and floor and the side bin doors which are aluminum clad on the outside.

Maybe I need to lash a lightning rod to the trailer roof and deploy it when we stop. 🤔

Thanks! It's an Intech Explore, which is in the middle of their "Flyer" range of models. Ours has double tip out beds, no pull out kitchen, and best of all no plumbing to go wrong. Most models have one bed, a pull out kitchen (fridge/stove), and a ramp in the rear. Dry weight claims to be 1,750lbs and it's only 13' feet long.

We are tent campers, but finally gave in to reduce load in/out times and have air conditioning, which extends our camping season in Texas. When we don't have electricity, we can run the MaxxAir fan off the battery for several days. This trailer fits my family of 5 just fine for now. We can hang out inside if we need AC or shelter from rain, but it's not so big that the kids just sit inside all day.

Loading is now a breeze. Attaching 4 bikes on my Yakima Swingaway bike rack used to take 30+ minutes of Tetris and cursing. Now I can load in the homemade rack + bikes in less than 5 minutes.
Looking these up today. They are dang cool.

Oh yeah, aluminum camper should make a nice lightning cage

Congratulations from a fellow inTech owner! We are also former tent campers having camped for years in a beautiful 10x10 Springbar tent. We decided to go trailer after we endured a super-cell type of storm on the Outer Banks of North Carolina at Oregon Inlet campground that dumped about 4 inches of rain overnight with wind gusts up to 50 mph. But it wasn't just that which caused us to "Go RV" - the tent held up and we were dry! It was the direct lightning hit on the campground that got us wondering if tent camping, cool and bad-ass as it is, was worth it.

So March 2024 we took delivery of a inTech OVR Expedition, with the off grid package, which we love - so far.
Here's our OVR Expedition - a veritable palace compared to our tent:

Luxurious! What's your suspension / hitch set up for that size of trailer?

I don't have a ton of towing experience. Even though our Explore weighs so little, the height and flat-front shape is just enough to destroy MPG. Usually hovering around 10mpg when staying at ~70mph. AHC is plenty strong to keep us level without WDH, etc.

Nothing exotic or fancy, just a quick late season trip to a state park on Lake Huron with the waves lulling us to sleep.

We have a Blue OX Sway Pro WDH. I also have Firestone airbags which I run 10-12 PSI to compensate for my lack of "Lexusness". I might not even need to inflate them but the LC is absolutely level with that pressure, so I use it.
Mileage is 10MPG towing at 65MPH and 20+ highway otherwise with an empty roof rack as shown in the pic. Trailer weighs #5400 lbs with all our junk in it (but no fresh/gray/black water). LC with all our stuff is #7000, again with empty roof rack.

The 200 tows this like a boss but towing halves my highway MPG!:(

Checked out Poker Flat over the weekend. Downieville to La Porte. Camped by the creek.

Apparently it was the opening day for hunting season. Bunch of hunters on the trail, but we had the whole campsite to ourselves. 3 kids, 2 adults, my 200 and friends 4Runner

The drive out from the creek to Howland Flat was kinda sketchy/tough for a good chunk. All the videos make it seem like you just gotta get past this little section of rock, but it’s more like a couple miles.

But all in all it was a fun weekend.

Looking for a camping spot..

Just some camping by the lake. An LC200 with a roof-box from my previous Beemer:

- 6 people
- 1 dog
- 2 tents - including a huge one ;-)
- 4 wooden beach chairs, 4 folding chairs, 2 folding tables and all necessary camping gear
- air mattresses and sleeping bags for all

We got a heavy storm of a lifetime 🙃

Got my Tab 320S back in April and have been enjoying it on 4 trips so far, plus 1 more this year in November. Earlier this year at Cheaha Mountain, AL:

I'm more of a mountains person, but finally went to the beach instead. Original plan was to camp on the beach itself, but the threat of high tide changed that and we ended up on a concrete pad. It was for the better - we had fresh water showers nearby, and the small distance from the beach definitely reduced the amount of sand that ended up in the camper.

Plus our section has no thru traffic, so no cars to compete with. Much better situation for the kids.

As much as I hate parking lot camping near other RVs, this suited us perfectly for a night. I also don't care for Texas beaches, but the water was clear and the weather was perfect. This old dog might have an open mind yet...

Great beach pics. There’s something special about a beach fire, I’m a little envious.

Your camping habits sound similar to ours and we’ve been reluctant to beach camp but everyone who does it has told us we need to branch out….but the sand keeps us going back to beach house rental.
