Great beach pics. There’s something special about a beach fire, I’m a little envious.

Your camping habits sound similar to ours and we’ve been reluctant to beach camp but everyone who does it has told us we need to branch out….but the sand keeps us going back to beach house rental.

In the last few months we've camped 2-3x right on sandy beaches, and 4-5 times in the forests. There's no comparison in enjoyment IMO - the forests/mountains/etc. win by an enormous margin:

- No sand being dragged into the trailer, vehicle, etc.
- No sand being sucked up into your portable generator (if you have/use one)
- No sand-covered dog
- No sand-covered infant

Have I mentioned how much I love sand?

- No worries about tides or changes in water levels due to the lake having an upstream dam
- Privacy and some sort of hard to describe "comfort" that comes with being surrounded by green vegetation/trees
- Much more interesting to walk through/explore than an endless beach
- Typically no one else choosing to camp right next to you; much quieter, even if someone IS camping somewhere nearby
- Firewood is easy to find
- The occasional bear adds more excitement than the occasional trout

I generally feel the same way about it. It was an exceptionally perfect weekend all around - and we only camped for one night. I think I’d be singing a different tune if we were directly on the beach.

Side note: I did chat with a fully loaded GXOR guy who was going as far down the national seashore as he could (about 60 miles one way). Curious if he had as good of a time as we did. I can probably find him on the YouTubes.

First use of newly installed TrexBoxx drawers. The “lift up” table surface is super useful.

Beach camping is one of those things I do once every 2 or 3 years.
Just long enough to forget how bad the wind and sand can be.
This was up at the Outerbanks.

I do prefer the mountains of North Ga over the sand.

It’s getting harder and harder to find good places in North GA that aren’t already occupied or requiring some cleanup before setting up, it kills me to see what’s happened up here in the last decade.

We keep putting off a OBX trip but every time I see these beach camp pics I keep getting more and more interested.

Packed light this trip as it was just myself camping solo without the family. Enjoyed going light and the wheeling is that much more satisfying.

I agree.
The campsites especially close to the Helen area are starting to look like trash pits.

Made a run for the border, Big Bend… not Taco Bell.

Temps are mid 70°’s. We just don’t have what it takes to camp here in the summer.
