I'm sitting in the office trying to help the wife get the vehicle started. If it's just dead battery I'll have her call AAA, but before I do that I thought I'd ask here. IS there an immobilizer that would cause this or did the less than a year old battery really drain from sitting in the driveway for a couple hours with ignition on? This is my SQOTD, but this s*** never seems to happen when I'm home, only when my wife is alone with the vehicles...go figure

Turn on headlights, are they bright? I know it sounds dumb but is she pressing the brake pedal? I suffer from a similar issue.

no power to anything apparently, fob will not lock/unlock, only apparent power is the green light on ignition button, but it does nothing when pressed

reason I am asking about immobilizer is the FJ does this when the immobilizer is tripped, I just didn't know if the 200 had something similar that I am not aware of as we haven't owned it long enough for me to notice any quirks. My better half tends to find the operation limits for anything mechanical ;) but she would not find humor in me saying that

she jumped it, all good. surprised the battery drained that quick with no accessories and just in the "on" position...

Perhaps a VW is in her future? Glad it was something simple, mine always breaks the expensive stuff.

It's likely the battery doesn't have strong reserves any more. That said, a deep discharge like this also incrementally damages the battery, permanently.

Long way to say it might be time to get ahead of this and swap the battery.

Probably a watch item then. Depending on health, faults, and that it's been fully discharged at least once now.

Lol. After reading all the posts about starter failures I did the same thing and called a wrecker to haul the truck to the dealer. At the end of day I had a flash of comprehension and I asked if the tech had done a volt check and was assured that he had. The next morning I was told that they couldn’t find anything wrong but it was running fine. It cost me $600 with the tow to learn that what you read on the internet can f u up.

You need to keep in mind the LX has 100's of ecu's, relays, actuators etc that will have power with the ignition on. My Lexus LS430 would drain the battery within 2-3 hours if the lights and ac power was left on. So this is not all that surprising completely normal, I would 100% get new battery since the new one has been fully discharged.

As well clean the cable ends of with a little sand paper.

The HVAC fans will kill a battery pretty quick, too.

Teckis is right in that battery probably being compromised, at least a little bit. If you lived somewhere with brutal winters I'd advocate for changing it, if not now, before next winter. But being in Houston I'd say just run it.

Batteries die all the time for lots of reasons. Just swapped out my son’s Lexus RX400h starter battery under warranty replacement. Exactly one year old. No warning - just worked fine in the morning, dead in the evening. Happens.

Wife has decided she loves it and taken it over as the baby hauler, so it looks like I need to find a nice LX for her to drive, this was really meant to be the next project, not the grocery and target runner.

I've been buying my batteries at Costco lately for all the vehicles, not super impressed with the Interstate lifespan as I have had already had to trade out 2 of 4 within a year of new
