I have this unit which I am very happy with. Bought it through a forum on special for $230 plus I chucked in I think it was $30 extra for extra warranty. Had it ~8months or so, no issues at all. For me, knowing where most of this comes from I could not justify the high $$$ from others. I bought it purely for offroading and tight tracks etc, which it is great for.

Yeah I've heard about that from other people . Was thinking that if I put a Matt black vinyl on the hood would that help ? Thanks for the tip

The vinyl on the hood would probably help with the hood being lit by the lightbar, but it would not help with your windshield. Every bug, speck of dust, and dirt on the windshield ends up getting illuminated if you use a flood beam from the roof.

Right I'll take that in to consideration .thanks sal

Right I have a Q I bought my light force 240 HID 35w off a friend a who was leaving the country. When I bought them he said that I could adjust them to both be flood or spots is this true ? I have looked on there website and searched online but can't find anything regarding what he told me .
Cu I was thinking that I could keep them as flood and use the led as spot beam

if it is like the Lightforce's I used to have you can adjust the beam width by simply turning the light housing.

HID Lightforces make a great spot beam, and some of the LED's make really good floods, so if its possible that might be the way to go? But either way will probably be fine.

If you ever want to sell those 240's let me know :)

Yeah but if I use the led roof as a flood beam I run the risk of being blinded by the windshield

Yeah if you already have them then your options are limited.

I personally think the LEDs look good on the front bumper... Not sure if you use a roof rack or not? Here is mine with spots on top and floods on the bumper:

If you are putting them on the roof, go with spot-beam pattern. With combo or flood on the roof it lights up the dust on your windshield and illuminates your hood. I know several people who have light bars on top that they don't use because of this.

That is normally an issue with poor light bar placement. I have mine about halfway back along the door frame, all spread beam and the light beam drops down infront of the bullbar, no glare at all from the bonnet or anything.

Good point... I'll suggest they try pushing the mount location back a bit and see if it helps.

Truck-lite

Get yourself a set of these

500- 600 $ Truck-lite.com 7 round headlight no need for extra light
if you want extra light do like me:
buy/make two lights housing and use your original 7 in lights as aux !! tadam I got this going for 3 years now just awsome ! I bought my truck-lite from rebeloffroad.com price as not gone down in 3 years to me that means quality.
I just wish I had not bought and modified this stupid ARB bar they put the freaking uprights almost in front of the headlights ... so much for reputation ... i got fooled once ... at least I made an air tank out of the bull bar no credit to them ..

The Lightforce HID's are very adjustable and as you can see offer amazing light. :)

Would you have any idea on how to adjust the 240 HID I've had a look at the lens not I can rotate !

I have 170 Strikers and with them you simply lift a plastic tab which allows the light to turn clockwise or counterclockwise. ( goes from flood to spot or anything in between ). I would have thought the 240's operated in a similar manner.

Is that a design feature or just something that people do? I've never seen it in any Lightforce literature. I might have to give it a try.

Design feature.....
You will notice a ribbed flange at the back of the light and just aft of that is a plastic clip on top. The front of the clip actually sets in the grooved portion of the flange which keeps the light from moving. ( this is not depicted accurately in the photo )
You lift the clip up with a screwdriver and the whole front portion of the light rotates and allows you to select the light pattern you desire. The clip is then lowered back into the groove and thus holds the light in place.
