Hey all,

Search didn't turn up anything. I have a 2007 LX with DTRL and I'm wondering where/if I can get a LED flasher relay. Why does the DTRL make the SmartTap incompatible?

Thanks!

SmartTap CF18

I bot a led turn signal relay from fleabay for $8 delivered. Not sure if thats what you’re referring to. In my case, i added led bulbs for the front turn signals and the flasher was too fast; the led relay solved the problem.

Whatever you do DON’T pay $50 for the relay, that’s ridiculous. Mine was $10 from Amazon and worked perfectly for me. All my exterior bulbs are LED

Alright I ordered one from Amazon. Hopefully it's the right part. Thanks!

The SmartTap is $50 because it’s not just a regular led flasher. It adds adjustable one-touch signalling, arrival and departure lighting (Doesn’t work on the 100) and different hazard options. I have the SmartTap on three of my cars and I love it.

Here’s a thread I made when I installed it on my ‘02 LX

The arrival and departure lighting doesn’t work since the factory alarm in my LX flashes the parking lights instead of the turn signals. But I can still use the feature by quickly tapping the hazard switch once while the engine is off. It will activate the turn signals (I have it set to 40 seconds), illuminating the area around the car as you leave. Pretty useful feature.

Turn signals also turn on instantly when you tap the stalk, unlike the cheaper led flashers where there is a pause in the initial blink when you activate the turn signals.

Will this fix my OEM led tails that give me a bulb out light on dash

No since it has nothing to do with the tail light bulbs, only the turn signal bulbs. I didn’t know there was a bulb out light on the dash. Do you have a photo?

Negative. Your options are to replace with original bulbs, pull the bulb from the cluster (or tape it), or install a resistor.

I'm just waiting for the dash bulb to burn itself out. Easiest route.

I ordered this one from Amazon

Edit: Just realized it was the same one @MongooseGA posted above and it works great for me as well. For some reason on Amazon’s website it says “This Item Does Not Fit Your 2000 Land Cruiser” but it definitely does. Can’t speak on the dash light since I’ve never experienced that one before. I honestly didn’t even know there was a light on the dash specifically for an exterior light that’s burned out until I saw another member post about it a few months back hah

Dumb question, how to swap them out?
It was a real pain for me. It's tucked way up under the drivers dash (damn near to the gauge cluster). I had to use a 10mm on a 12" extension to unbolt the bracket that holds it in, and then only using one hand I reached up into the dash and unplugged it and plugged in the new one. By that time I had so many scratches on my hand from reaching up in there I didn't even care to bolt it back so it's just hanging in there. All the wires are tight though so it doesn't rattle for me.

Yeah I ended up just unplugging the stock one and plugging in the new one and I left it there. No rattles and everything works properly. I might end up looking more into the smart tap so I can get rid of the longer first flash and have some extra features.
