Yep - I bought a screwdriver specifically to reach this and it works like a charm. Is there enough room to get the screwdriver on to even engage on that hex head? Luckily there's not a battery in the way like on driver's side.

LED Definitely the way to go. Is there enough room to get the screwdriver on to even engage on that hex head? Luckily there's not a battery in the way like on driver's side.
This or if you can find it the head of the headlight adjustment is like an 8mm head, I was able to find a ratcheting wrench to fit.Yep - I bought a screwdriver specifically to reach this and it works like a charm.
I kept the stock high beams, they work great for me.Wow, really?
I really liked my HIR upgraded bulbs...
Maybe I need to pony up and get some DD SL1s.
Are you guys just keeping the high beam stock incan as to not interfere with the DRLs?
Do you happen to have a link to the exact bulbs you purchased. Not sure why I am having a hard time finding them. This is the answer^^^^. I too was running the 9012 for years, they are a little better than the 9006, maybe 20% brighter. I then switched to the Diode Dynamics SL1 and the difference is unbelievable. The amount of light they put out is a like a projector. I have a 200 series LC as well and the 100 is now equal with the 200 for headlights.
The nice thing about the DD bulbs is you can adjust the alignment of the LED's in the bulb itself to ensure it disperses correctly when installed, it took about 6 tries to get it just right because you have to change the alignment w/ the bulb out of the car, so it was a little trial by error. There is a distinct, normal looking low beam cutoff when installed correctly. I have never been flashed by other drivers while running these bulbs.
I had the same install issue as gregnash and had to swap out the o-rings from my old bulbs and then they just went right in. The 9006 / 9012 headlight performance is a major weakness of the 100 and I would never go back to either of those bulbs.

This.OP and anyone else that is thinking of/currently running an LED or HID lighting set up in a factory halogen reflector housing - please read this thread - Why LEDs should not be run in Halogen reflectors - https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/why-leds-should-not-be-run-in-halogen-reflectors.454371/
It is a wealth of information (technical reasoning, real world tests, output measurements and photos) and clearly outlines why LED/HID in a reflector is inefficient, non-performant and just plain rude to commuters around you.
If you run a stock factory halogen reflector, please upgrade to a brighter halogen bulb and be done with it or switch to a projector set up. Don't be that guy.

They do but they show them as "FOG" lights and not direct drive light replacements. There was something a while back where a guy had gotten these and then later received a letter from DD that stated something to the sort of the testing was not complete to make them "legal" drive light replacements. So they were offering the ability to send them back for a partial refund plus their top of the line Halogen replacements. I never got said letter or email so not sure exactly what is going on with it.Is there a reason Diode Dynamics doesn’t list these when I do a search by vehicle? Just seems a little strange.

SL1's are drive lights so no flasher is needed. Or at least none for my '98 LC.Are those running the SL1’s replacing the stock flasher with the Dynamic Diode flasher? Also is there one flasher or one for each side?
Ok no more posting for me when I’m still a little groggy. I was thinking of headlights flickering. Ignore my stupiditySL1's are drive lights so no flasher is needed. Or at least none for my '98 LC.
What 7inch rounds are you running as headlights?Echo “Don’t be that guy” I have tried everything in the stock housing. Either it flat out doesn’t work or it blinds oncoming traffic. Two choices are the projectors or Kelley Saad’s headlight conversion. I chose the later. View attachment 2717158
