For us 570 owners living vicariously through y'all - can someone grab a pic of the new Slee 570 sliders that they have been teasing on social media? Specifically the underside. It was hinted that the design was revised to add more protection for AHC globes.

Hey Fred! It was a pleasure hanging out with you on Imogene while we waited for a battery reset. Keep up the trail running and watch those mud flaps! :p
 
Any recovery action today? Those roads can get slick up there. Those shoulders are juicy and prime for high center action :popcorn::clap::meh:

As far as I know from all the Comms everything went well. Is there a reason you keep asking?

We had a scary moment on Imogene today. The driver might have been able to make it without rolling but we didn't take the chance. A kinetic rope and soft shackles from Treary Oak Offroad and some tug-of-war action for ballast kept everyone safe (Todd came down after securing the rope before the vehicle started moving). Good job everyone on keeping your cool and thinking through the problem.

We had a scary moment on Imogene today. The driver might have been able to make it without rolling but we didn't take the chance. A kinetic rope and soft shackles from Treary Oak Offroad and some tug-of-war action for ballast kept everyone safe (Todd came down after securing the rope before the vehicle started moving). Just by looking at pics, going down on those ledge style drops, pick a line and try to drop both front tires at relatively same time. If you were squared up on that drop, you won’t be in that position. This just my observation without physical being there. Carry on and be safe!

Yes that appears to be what happened - the driver dropped passenger front while driver front was still on the ledge. He did a good job turning into it and stopping before any additional tipping occurred and waited for assistance. So although the line was problematic, he acted correctly in what I am sure was a scary situation.

Yeah probably could have turned into the lean and made it out. But certainly better to be safe than sorry. A pucker-angle for sure.

Looks like fun a fun trip report so far.
Maybe I can bribe Cody and Cole to allow a Troopy next year :D ... probably not though.
 
We had a good time today driving among the aspen on Last Dollar Road, Brian Dog Pizza in Telluride, than over Imogene Pass. The trail was crowded and slow due to Black Bear Pass being closed, we suspect. Overall, another great day! Of course, we couldn’t pass up some poser shots when we had the opportunity.

@SchobTime All arm chair quarterbacking from thousands of miles away and trolling aside- my daughter was in this vehicle and and I was up there to get her out and the drivers son. So take your popcorn 🍿 and think about your daughter rolling down a mountain.

The driver is very experienced- more than probably all of us combined and just couldn’t see the drop. He took a challenging line on purpose.

But don’t take pleasure in what could have been serious situations and act like it could never happen to you.

If there is one thing I feel certain of in wheeling, it’s that weird situations can happen to any driver at any level of experience.

Glad everyone came out unscathed. :steer:
 
I apologize if posting the photos caused any issues; that was not my intent. In my mind, situations like this are great examples that people can learn from. Wheeling is fraught with difficulties and dangers, and even the most experienced can easily get into a sticky situation. It's what you do when something goes wrong that matters the most. In this situation, the driver did an excellent job keeping his cool and doing the right thing when his wheel dropped. And the rest of the team worked out a simple and workable solution using recovery gear in a unique way that kept everyone safe while getting the job done. Great job all around. It was definitely a scary situation for those who were there, but no one panicked and all worked together to get everyone through safely.
