Does anyone have a recommendation for replacement ball joints for the front lower control arms?

I'm just trying to get smart on the options, since I'm taking my '08 to the shop soon to have them look into suspension noises (creaking/squeaking). Don't know if LCAs are involved.
  • Toyota OEM: it appears that they don't sell just the ball joint -- rather it is part of a complete LCA for $$. Please LMK if you have a part #
  • Summit carries Moog ($36 each) and Centric ($82 each) LCA ball joints. Thoughts? Neither appear greasable.
Any thoughts on LCA bushings while we're at it?

Thanks/DN

@bjowett sells the factory 555 ball joint. That’s still the best option.

Before I know that I got Centric (company that makes Stop Tech) and while the ball joint is still solid at 30,000 miles, the bottom of them (the area that faces the outer CV boot) heavily rusted).

Don’t go with Moog or really anything else, they don’t last very long, spoken from experience.

Great, thanks for the info and the referral to bjowett & Cruiser Outfitters.

We stock the 555 lowers, same brand we've been selling for 25 years now, fantastic results. We offer them individually or with uppers:

Does anyone have a writeup on doing the LCA ball joints? Are they pressed in?

They are pressed in. The procedure is pretty straightforward but does require a ball joint press tool. There are some great threads in the 100 Series section on this job.

So you know, I had to use a lot of heat, like... a lot of heat and a 20,000 pound press. Not even my super strong air impact gun and press tools with the tons of heat could get the ball joints out.

Sometimes these joints press out not too bad, sometimes they never let go. I had a brand new toyota with 1,500 miles on it not release the ball joint from the spindle, ever. So just be prepared, it does happen.

While on the topic and since I was cleaning out the garage this weekend, I've got OEM LCAs that are in good condition that just need new ball joints since the boots were torn when being removed. Free for the taking but you'd need to pickup in San Diego area. Have undamaged UCAs too.
