LC100 UK Diesel Engine Variants (2 Viewers)

Hi all,

Looking to buy a UK LC100 diesel auto and struggling to find specific info compared to US petrol variants which have a lot more info online.

My main questions are:

1. Diesel Engine: What specific 4.2L turbo diesel (e.g., 1HD-FTE) variants were in UK LC100s, especially did they have a similar post-2002 (201BHP models)?
2. Automatic Transmission: Did UK diesel LC100s receive the 5-speed auto upgrade (e.g., A750F) from the earlier 4-speed (A343F)? I know petrol models changed around 2002-2003, and some info suggests a 5-speed for diesels around 2005. Can anyone confirm this for UK diesel models?
3. Identification: How can I tell which engine and transmission is fitted when viewing a car (VIN or physical features)?

The changes came around 2002-2003, and included both the A750 box, different ECU setup, and a few mechanical changes to the engine, all at the same time.
Main points:

• The 5 speed A750F is much smoother than the 4 speed, especially noticeable on the diesel.
• The altered ECU control, in a combined engine/transmission ECU, gives better gear shift and throttle control. The 5-sp feels nearly snappy compared to the 4-sp. (Suspect it had to do with the very slow communication between the engine ecu and trans ecu on the 4 speed, together with a slower shifting box, which gave a delay of nearly 1 sec between kickdown and response)
• The injectors are different, with different pressures, and the IP has different parameters.
• Change in the EGR and intake system.
• Changed valves.
• Electric operated intake shut-off valve instead of vacuum.
• Option of VSC came a year later.

All EU HDJ-100 came with the 1HD-FTE, with 150 kW and 430 Nm, from 1998 to 2007.
Specs can be found by entering the VIN into one of the online parts lists / parts dealers.

When I was looking for my HDJ100 this is what I have observed:
2002 interior facelift was introduced (new steering wheel, radio, climate control instead of the old AC, etc.)
2004 5 speed gearbox was introduced
