Got LandCruiser, 2007, 228k on it.
In winter - had an issue when transfer case indicator switch was changed (84222-12010-TN).
Last weekend - out of the blue - thankfully right in the neighborhood - grinding noise while driving at low speed and the car does not move. Grinding noise in both forward/rear moving.
It was hot here for awhile.
Towed to my mechanic.
He said - the rear axle does not seem to spin. When locking center differential - card drives. He did not put it on a lift yet.
I got code P0500 - speed sensor failure when I checked codes during the weekend.
My mechanic called his buddy at Toyota dealership and both are scratching their heads.
Whole situation sounds odd. Did anybody have something similar? Suggestions to check?
Thank you!

Likely a c-clip has slipped off the end of one of the CV's. Pull the dust caps off and see if it's there. Best case, you put the clip back on and it's ok. More likely, CV splines a stripped/worn and maybe drive flange too.

I would guess worn axle drive flange on front wheels.

as an update - it was broken c-clip on front passenger side. as @Trunk Monkey said. My mechanic was happy to learn something new.
What is Toyota part number for it? I would like to replace another side.
Thank you!
