larger tires without lift

I had 35s on mine with no lift for a while, didn't take it off road but no rubbing on the street. The trick on these rigs is keeping the tires inside the wheel wells. I have 2 1/2 in lift with stock wheels and 1 1/4" wheel spacers. The problem is when you lift them the track width narrows and the wheel spacer are needed to correct that. But when the suspension compresses the track width get wider so the tire no longer compresses inside the wheel well. My front tires will contact the inside edge of the fender hard compression but had not hurt a thing.

View attachment 1006922 I did consider a body lift, but if you plan on adding a winch bumper I would not go more than an inch. If you go any higher and you correct the height of the bumper your winch will set much higher on the frame, thus causing way more stress and leverage during winching

You just posted a pic of the most beautiful LC setup ever! I know it's not ideal off road, but my God does your rig look awesome!!! Thanks for posting!!

This is an awesome looking rig my friend! Wow how those wheels fill the wells so nicely! So no rubbing even on road bumps hard turns... That's great!

Thanks, but it wasn't that way for long. But no rubbing at all on the street. I did have to bend over the pinch weld.

Here is how it sets now

This is the second day without my LX. Dealer doing alignment, some belt noise... 2 days!

There, there... I know 2 days is a long time to be without your baby, but it's in good hands and it will go by quickly! And you'll be glad when it's all done.

I've gone through those withdrawals too.

When I look at it that way, I hear you. What's funny is, my LX is a 2000 model. SO the dealership gave me a brand new Lexus ES as a loaner. People are telling me that I should be happy driving a new luxury car... but I'm not! Not at all! I love my LX so much, even though it's 15 years old. Loving the LX is somewhat like when you love a girl so much, she could pick her nose and fart in bed and you don't care, still love her!

Except when she farts in bed and PULLS THE COVERS OVER YOUR HEAD!!!!

I did. Just installed 4.88 and arbs front and rear.

Look friggen great! What's your impressions of the re-gear before and after? Night and day?

Thanks, Yes, night and day! It's funny how when you put the larger tires on I think you don't want to notice a big difference in power loss so it doesn't seam to bad. But with the re-gear and the headers I think it get up and goes better than stock.

I had 35s on mine...

What tire size, exactly, are you running with the stock 16" rims? I can only find the 315 or 12.5" width, which I feel is too wide. I don't want to go any wider than 295 or 305 at the absolute widest. I'm not going to be doing a body lift and I want to avoid rubbing with the right tire width, spacers and longer bump stops.
Or do I have to do what r2m did and purchase 17" rims? BTW, I'm already considering purchasing a set of stock 16" LC rims as a second set of rims/tires for summer as currently I'm running my stock LX 18" rims.

TIA,
Artwerks

If you are wheeling with the 4-speed transmission you need to regear it or you'll be missing out on liveable power.

35s or 37s, get 5.29s and 3:1 transfer case gears. 4.88s are better for 5-speed rigs.

I ran 315/75R16 Fierce Attitudes (stock wheels no spacers) on stock suspension with leveled t-bars for a few months until I got rear springs.

Just trim the plastic in the offending areas with shears and beat the pinch weld with a BFH.
