The 4.3 is basically a 350 sbc with 2 cylinders cut off. They are good motors for a light vehicle. If I were going through the trouble of engine swapping, I would go ahead and put a v8 in it......

A 4.3 puts out good power, and should be at least about 4 inches shorter than a 350, so if you are trying to cram a maximum amount of drivetrain into a 40 and need the clearance, the 4.3 might be the hot ticket. I know my buddys S-10 4x4 with that motor has very good performance.
