I have been reading on various sites that toyota intends to redesign the land cruiser alongside the tundra in 2014.

Could this be possible ? Im surprised as its much shorter than the 100 series cycle which lasted 10 model years .

If this is true we should see test mules very soon !

The real question though, will it be a totally new frame or a heavy redesign similar to the new Lexus LS which was unveiled a few weeks ago

Possibly IRS and an 8 speed transmission and possibly smaller engines for the USA , what do you think ?

Maybe they realized that the backs of 200 looks hideous. And the 80 was only around 7-8 years.

I just dont see it - they re-tooled for 6 months before introducing the 2013 in March of this year. I just dont think they would do a full redesign 12-18 months later. The Sequoia and Tundra - definitely can see it - and they need it.

No way. 1500+ of Toyota's best worked on the 200 for over 5 years. It's a model that's going to be around for more years to come.

If history plays into it. Tundra/Sequoia, Tacoma and Hilux are all due for a change and the 200 (which shares a lot with Tundra) can't be far behind. I hope they don't call it the 300 but they probably will. I suspect things are very busy in the engineering dept. at Toyota.

The first generation Taco ran from 1995- 2004 so I'd expect all new generation of Tacoma around 2014 as well.
The first generation Tundra ran for six years,
The first generation Hilux ran four years.
The second generation Hilux ran six years
The third generation Hilux ran five years
The fourth generation Hilux ran five years
The fifth generation ran six years
The sixth generation Hilux ran eight years
The current generation of Hilux is in its seventh year

It looks like a 7-8 year trend at the moment.

I saw a strange looking Tundra in town the other day that I`m convinced was a prototype. Similar features to the second gen but higher and wider headlights and vertical grill slats which angled out at the bottom. If it had been green rather than black it would have been a dead ringer from the front for Chik Hicks.

What does the 200 share with the Tundra? The engine and drive train, yes. The frame, front end and some rear ends - no.

The 5.7L still needs to prove itself IMO.
