The wife reported to me that a Land Cruiser is for sale on Aberdeen Dr in Greenville SC. I'll try to check it out Monday and post specifics. She thinks it is a 62, maybe a 60, and said it looked in good shape and pretty stock besides some poorly tinted windows.

well to add to this I saw a 40 for sale just north of Furman on 276 and New Roe Ford Road........

It looked fairly original, but had alot of rust and a V8......... clould be a good project if the price is right.

I have the number somewhere I will post it up when I find it.......

I've looked into this 40. I drive by it every morning on the way into work. I have a ton of pics I can post or email to anyone. There is no price posted but last time it was for sale (per the mechanic) the owner wanted $5,500 which is WAY too much. The mechanic says it runs great but is a rust bucket which is clear. It would need a new tub and work on every door. I would probably say around the $2,000 or less range b/c of the extensive body work needed. The mechanic thinks the guy would take around $3,500 to $4,000 which is still too much in my mind.

yeah that 40 is way over priced. it used to be on the other side of 276, its very rough.

I went a looked at the cruiser on aberdeen today, not too bad, but it too is a little over priced. I have a couple pics for those who want them, but in summary:

1985 FJ60 - stock
dark gray ext
gray int
209k - motor rebuilt 125k
recent rebuilt: starter, alt, pwr steering pump
faded paint especially on hood
dented rear quarters (both sides) but not too rusty (forgot to check gutters though)
craked dash
bad tints
comes with yakima rack
$5500

Steve, do you still have the pics of this 40. I just got an email from someone wanting to trade my Miata for a Red 1978 40. His address puts him near Furman. I'm pretty sure that it's the same Cruiser. I wanna check out what you have. From the sound of it, unless he's done some body work, I'll be needing money from him.

Thanks and sorry for resurrecting an old thread.

That's what I am afraid of... Thanks for the heads up.

hmmm, i would take it for $1000 and buggy it! buggy buggy buggy!

His mechanic said he wanted around 5,000 - the mechanic said it ran VERY well but the body was shot - my Piggie had nothing on that 40.

I just checked and I don't have any pics.

So what you are saying is that it was rust being held together by the frame? From the pics I've seen of your Piggie, there's no way I'm ready to tackle something that rusty. We'll see what happens. Maybe it's a different 40... yeah right.

If it is the 40 that I saw it supposedly belonged to a Furman student who was getting ready to graduate. This 40 needed an entirely new tub, fenders, ambulance doors...everything. I think $1,500 would be a fair price, $2,000 tops if what the mechanic said was true that it was 100% mechanically sound. I can get you the # for the mechanic if it is the same 40.

And hey...I take care of my rust!!!

Steve, is this the cruiser? And I only commented on the rust because I'm not brave enough to tackle that much rust...

That looks like it. The extra black rubber front fender flares might be new. If it is her and you haven't seen her in person yet the rust is much worse...its a 40 footer or as you can see needs a blurry pic. Don't mean to sink you battleship!

And by the way, Ih8rust! I did finish my floors this weekend and got a good bit done on the door sills.

Steve
