Tedious. I’ll add a little touch up paint and some wax where able. This is the best part of doing a motor swap. Getting the engine bay nice and tidy.

Waxed the passenger fender back to life but I think I’m going to go ahead and spot paint it. Too much bare metal.

Took the box out and welded up the backsides of the shock towers and the frame support.

Scrubbed and painted the frame. I’ll have to do the axle last. It’s my step in and out and don’t want to mess it all up

Question!! If you're gonna cross brace the frame, why wouldn't you do both sides???? I understand why it's done on drivers side!! Why not both sides 🤔😉

I don’t think it’s necessary in the first place looking at a FJ60 frame and a FJ55 frame side to side but Mud says it’s necessary so I did it on mine and in this one.

Most people that rip boxes off their frames are loading up their SOA pigs with 5 days of gear and driving into the Rubicon or some s*** like that.

But hey, if I was still a rock whomper maybe I would still think like a rock whomper.

I’m not sure how the grill area got black but I’m going to go get some white spray paint and make it white again tomorrow. If anyone knows a good rattle can match to 031 you can save me some time

I knocked off at 5 and realized it was 65 degrees and took this new to me 72 for a spin down the road and then hit it with the pressure washer

I left the shop yesterday with the plan to paint the grill area white to match the engine bay like I did on the Warthog because I remembered it also has a terrible black overspray paint job on the grill area.

I went back and looked at photos and realized that this, somehow, is how Toyota did this. I have no idea why it was done so poorly but I see why it was done now. It gives a good contrast to the pewter grill and headlight rings and basically let the radiator blend in.

Cool. Black it is.

I also soaked the black rubber in my parts washer and it is back to black like new. This truck has all of the OEM rubber strips all in great shape. Even the ones above the firewall

Last, I found a rattle can paint that matches the Toyota 031 white. It’s whiter than Cygnus but it’s not full on white white

I’ll add a little more fender paint before I quit but I can move on to something fun now. Stay tuned.

I unpacked some boxes while I was talking on the phone and got a visual of all the stuff that’s been collecting.

The biggest awesome that arrived was the full set of panels from SMS. These things are beautiful but not exactly plug and play. The fill neck hump is painted. I’ll attach it after that dries. Same with the cargo vent grills

I got one side done and I think I’m done for the day. Very nice product.
